What's the purpose of these things on race tracks?

Hi all,

What's the purpose of these green bars/columns they put on apexes of certain corners (see the pic)?
What's going to happen if you hit one? Isn't it too dangerous? I've never seen them on racing tracks during F1 races.

Does a driver get additional points if they take out one of them???)))

They're there so the drivers can see the track limits. These days drivers often sit so low and far back that it can be difficult to see exactly where the edges of the track are.

They're usually pretty light and soft so they fold down when hit although they can't take too much before they break.

And for F1 they probably aren't use because flying object in open cockpit cars isn't a great idea hehe.
Also the driver level in F1 is expected to be so high that the drivers can basically drive blind.
In other classes like tcr or even gt3, you have some amateurs too that don't have a simulator at the factory and other stuff that's helping
