Worth waiting for Fanatec CSL Base + Replacement for CSR Elite Pedals?

Hi - I'm thinking of buying my first wheel, primarily for use with RaceRoom Racing Experience, but also with Euro Truck Simulator 2 and perhaps Assetto Corsa.

Currently at the top of my list is the Thrustmaster TX wheel package that comes with the T3PA Pedals and Leather TM 28 GT wheel (i.e. http://www.thrustmaster.com/en_UK/products/tx-racing-wheel-leather-edition-0 ), which looks great and all the components seem to get good reviews, though there see, to be some issues with reliability, which is a concern (though if I bought direct from Thrustmaster, are models produced later likely to be more reliable?).

I've hear, though, that there is a new CSL base coming out soon from Fanatec, as well as replacements for the discontinued CSR Elite pedals. Do you think it's worth waiting for these to come out before making a decision about whether to get the Thrustmaster wheel or not? The Fanatec kit seems good quality, but the Clubsport range is too expensive for me.

If it wasn't for the reliability issues with the Thrustmaster wheel, I'd probably just buy that right now. My other alternative, I guess, would be just to buy a good condition second hanbd G27 wheel, as these are well supported (unlike the G920, which still has compatibility issues) and seem reliable, though FFB doesn't sound as good as one the Thrustmaster TX/T300.

The sad truth is that both Fanatec and Thrustmaster wheels has experienced their fair share of reliability problems.
There hasnt been any detailed information about the specs or first hand experience of the CSL range so it basically comes to how long you can or want to wait.

Are there any of the current crop of wheels *without* problems these days? The new Logitech G920 and G29 wheels seem to have had a very troubled release and even now support on PC is poor. I'd be tempted to just get a G27, but want more buttons and other controls on the wheel itself and would prefer to buy new.

That's just it, I think its pot luck, you might get a good un, or it might be a dodo
I had a Fanatec GT3 wheel, nice wheel, had a problem with it, Fanatec support were very good mind, wheel fixed. But I purchased a Thrustmaster TX while the Fanatec was being repaired an it is fantastic, been going nearly 2 years now without a problem.................famous last words, touch wood, fingers crossed, four leaf clover, salt over the shoulder......

I'm thinking of maybe risking getting that TX package I mentioned above, but buying direct from the UK Thrustmaster online shop, even though they're not the cheapest (though the package still looks like a good deal at £399 inc. delivery), as am thinking that may make returns in case of faults more straightforward etc.

Looks a good package, I like the look of the wheel, not sure of the pedals, look for some reviews on them. I Have the CSR Elites, love em

You can't buy the CSR Elites any more, though (if you could I'd seriously consider them) and the CSP V3s are too expensive

I belive you are better off getting it from Amazon, as they have a quicker / better returns policy.

I would do, for the reasons you mention, but they don't sell the package with the TX base, T3PA pedals and Leather GT 28 rim - they do sell the package with the T300 base, T3PA pedals and the Ferrari Alcantara Edition Racing Wheel, but I've read that the larger Alcantara Edition wheel is larger, but with the paddles in the same place as the smaller wheels, so are hard for smaller hands (like mine) to reach, also I'd prefer a leather rim and Xbox One compatibility instead of PS4 compatibility (might pick up a cheap second hand Xbox One at some point for Forza at some point for the car porn and when I feel like more casual racing).

The other, though more expensive option, might be to buy just the TX base and GT 28 rim (from Amazon) and to buy some better non-Thrustmaster pedals (perhaps the replacements for the CSR Elites, if Fanatec release them soon, or just going whole hog for the CSP v3s...) - though would need an adaptor for these (e.g. Leo Bodnar) if wanting to use them with an Xbox at some point.

Thanks, though if going the Thrustmaster route, it's definitely the leather 28 GT I want, not just for the leather, it seems to use better materials and components overall.

My TX has served me well. The first one I got failed, but the replacement has been rock solid.

I got a t300 Refurb for $250 and some clubsport pedals for $299. Somewhere in the $500 to $600 range was my budget, and I'm 95% happy with the setup. This setup works great on the pc, but does not play nice with consoles. I got a basherboards cpx and it works ok for ps3, but not so much for pc, so there's some cable swapping to go back and forth, which I almost never do anymore. Have they announce csl base price? I normally defer to getting the best thing available now as you never know when future products will actually be released. I also prefer to buy things with some glowing reviews and a good reputation.
