The SCCA created a "showroom stock" class for amateur club racing in 1972. In 1984, the SCCA combined existing races into a manufacturer's championship. For 1985, the series became a 6-race professional championship.
In 1990, the series was officially named World Challenge and was restructured to adopt rules similar to the European Group A. The higher-cost "sports" classes were dropped after 1996, leaving the class format as it would stand until 2010. With fields growing, the series began separate races for the GT and Touring classes in 2000, which would remain until 2010. The series moved existing touring cars into a new GTS class, while changing the rules for the touring car class to reduce costs and keep cars closer to stock.
With the SpeedVision television contract, the World Challenge eventually succeeded Trans Am as the SCCA's premier series.
In July 2008, the World Challenge series was purchased by WC Vision, a group of investors. The Sports Car Club of America remains the sanctioning partner of the series.
Starting with the 2011 season, the series signed a partnership with Pirelli and the leading tire manufacturer became the official tire supplier and title sponsor of the series.

GTS / Grand Touring Sport (GT4)
The allowed body styles within this class are coupe, sedan and convertible. The cars permitted in GTS are typically marketed as “sports cars”, “sport-touring cars” or performance versions of “luxury” cars but at a lower permissible preparation level than GT. Forced induction is permitted on cars that come equipped with forced induction stock. Power output ranges from 300-400 hp. Weight varies depending on power output and tire size. Front-wheel, rear-wheel, and all-wheel drive configurations are permitted. Additionally, many FIA GT4 class cars are eligible.

Format:
A race weekend features one 15-minute practice session, and one 10-minute qualifying session, one 5-minute warm-up session, followed by one race lasting approximately 30-40 minutes. The qualifying session is a straight fight for the fastest lap time, and determines the order of the grid. Practice will start at 5pm U.S. Eastern and 10pm British, except where time change is different, which will be announced. British time will govern.

Restarts: There will be no restarts once warm up begins (a minute or two before practice and qualification, drivers are not permitted to rejoin by the game). If you get disconnected before then, please inform the host immediately and you will be invited back. It is up to you to accept this on time to get in, if possible. If you cannot join and were disconnected prior to warmup, the race may be postponed or restarted so you can join. Otherwise, once warmup starts, the only exception to this rule is a mass disconnect (three or more at the same time) or a lag induced crash involving three or more drivers on the first lap.

Points:
Drivers’ Championship Points: A Drivers’ Champion will be named in each class. Points are awarded to the drivers based on their finishing position in each class. The points for all races are awarded as follows: 1st, 140 pts.; 2nd, 110; 3rd, 95; 4th, 85; 5th, 80; 6th, 76; 7th, 72; 8th, 68; 9th, 64; 10th, 60; 11th, 57; 12th, 54; 13th, 51; 14th, 48; 15th, 45; 16th
In addition to the base point system, the following points shall be awarded in each class:
-- One (1) point to each driver who leads the most laps, including A.I. if the driver provides proof or witness.
-- One (1) point to the driver who wins pole.

"LE MANS" PROTOTYPE 2 ("LM" P2) is a racing car with no production minimum required.
Open or closed car, destined only to teams independent of manufacturers and/or engine suppliers.
The cars that may be considered as "factory cars", whose technical characteristics and level of development are clearly not complying with the objectives of the LMP2 regulations may be refused by the Endurance Committee.
The selling price of the complete new car without the engine, but with all available options must not exceed 370 000€. For closed cars, the selling price must not exceed 450.000€.
All projects for the construction of a new car, or evolution of an existing model, must be submitted to the Endurance Committee for approval prior the homologation procedure.

Format:

This Series takes us back to times in F1 when Lotus usually dominated the competition. Three iconic cars, described below, were driven by equally iconic drivers. Years 1963, 1967, 1976, 1978 and 1986 are represented.


The Cars

The Lotus 25 was a racing car designed by Colin Chapman for the 1962 F1 season. It was a revolutionary design, the first fully stressed monocoque chassis to appear in F1. In the hands of Jim Clark it took 14 World Championship Grand Prix wins and propelled him to his 1963 World Championship title. Its last World Championship win was at the 1965 French Grand Prix.

The Lotus 49/49c was a Formula One racing car designed by Colin Chapman and Maurice Philippe for the 1967 F1 season. It was designed around the Cosworth DFV engine that would power most of the Formula One grid through the 1970s and was the first successful Formula One car to feature the engine as a stressed member. Jim Clark won on the car's debut in 1967, and it would also provide him with the last win of his career in 1968. Graham Hill went on to win that year's title and the car continued winning races until 1970.

The Lotus 72 was yet another innovative design by Chapman featuring inboard brakes, side mounted radiators in sidepods, as opposed to the nose mounted radiators which had been commonplace since the 1950s and an overhead air intake. The overall shape of the car was innovative too, resembling a wedge on wheels which was inspired by the earlier Lotus 56 gas turbine car, and the layout taken from the Lotus 63 four wheel drive project testbed. The shape made for better air penetration and higher speeds. In a back-to-back test with the Lotus 49, the 72 was 12 mph faster with the same Cosworth engine.

In early 1976, spurred on by the disappointing lack of pace and the indifferent performance of the current Lotus 77, Chapman wrote a 27 page document detailing his ideas on low drag air penetration. Studying an airplane, he paid close attention to its wing mounted radiators, and the hot air outlets that were designed to induce lift. Chapman realized that such a system inverted could give significant downforce.
The Lotus 78 was introduced at the first race of 1977, and proved to be the class car of the field that season, winning five races. The car proved relatively easy to set up and modify, with particular attention paid to the undercar aerodynamics and their interaction with the track surface, hence a stiffer suspension design which was required to maintain the aerodynamic effects.

The Lotus 98T was a development of the Lotus 97T of 1985. Of the four chassis built three were assigned to Ayrton Senna, now in his second year with Lotus.
Designed by Gérard Ducarouge, the chassis featured a lower monocoque than the 97T as a result of a regulation change stipulating a reduction in fuel capacity to 195 litres. The powertrain consisted of the new Renault EF15B turbo V6 engine driving through a six speed Hewland gearbox.

Practice Lobby to open 15 minutes before qualifying, followed by a 15 minute qualifying session, 5 minute warmup session and then the race, lasting approximately 50-75% of the actual race, except for original tracks.
Fuel Capacity: Driver Choice
Teams and Drivers - Drivers must not run the same number or livery unless unavoidable. Teams of two are permitted but no more than two.


Sporting Regulations
1. Assists: Cockpit or Helmet Cam View Only.

1.1. Assists: These will be set to "None" for this series, which means that Stability Control, ABS and Traction Control (tunable) are not active, since the cars in the F1 Championship have no assists. These are identical to the "Real" settings also. No "Auto Shift" but paddle sifters are not considered an assist.

2. The grid will consist of those 16 drivers who sign up for the race in advance, unless they are not present at qualifying, in which case their position may be given to a reserve driver.

3. Fifteen minutes of testing shall proceed the qualifying period.

4. There will be a 15 minute qualifying session. Each driver should complete a minimum of 2 timed laps (not including Out and In laps) in the qualifying session in the car to be raced and in the session in order to qualify for selection and order of precedence. Should any driver fail to meet this criteria, the car may be permitted to start at the discretion of the Series Director at the back of the grid. There will be a 5 minute "warmup" session after qualifying to be used either as a bathroom break or to adjust your setup, or both.

5. Races will approx. 90 minutes long and will require pit stops, unless the game is clearly and officially unable to perform pit stops in an acceptable manner (either through administrative testing or declared on the pCARS website). Pit bugs are sometimes present, so ay driver who signs up assumes the risk of game malfunction.

6. Auto-start of engine will be turned “ON” since the option to start your own engine is effectively eliminated because of the lack of assignable buttons. This may change during the season for any given series.

7. Drivers may feel that it is more advantageous to make a pit stop during a race, since less fuel load = significantly better lap times and it provides fresher tires more often.

8. Refueling will not be necessary during most races.

9. If a pit is needed, drivers should set the appropriate pit strategy options before the race and are encouraged make sure "Yes" appears next to desired strategy (preferably before entering the pits) and that the pit window is immediately closed after entering the pit as long as the correct pit strategy (you name) appears. Also, having just one option to choose seems to help.

10. Starts will be standing.

11. All Qualifying Results, Grids, and Race Results are deemed provisional until all races are reviewed by the Stewards after the race. The Chief Steward has the final decision as to whether or not a penalty (which may be appealed) should be applied to a driver. As such, drivers are encouraged to save and retain their own replays.

12. Tire wear will be set to "2X" so as to encourage some sort of strategy. Practice accordingly. Also, time of day will be 12 noon to start practice and set to "2X" throughout the event, so as to encourage strategy.


COMMS: Please refrain from continuously giving play-by-pay on mic while in race, and test your mic sensitivity before the race so that it is not unreasonably loud (voice, background noise, etc.) as compared to others. Whether your moves are heroic or tragic, please refrain from yelling, venting your frustration or venting against A.I. or, especially, other players. Everyone is trying to concentrate and needs to hear critical and necessary information in race and qualifying. This does not refer to lighthearted banter or the occasional descriptive moment, unless excessive.
Verbal abuse, repeated swearing and argument with other drivers, whether founded or unfounded, to a fellow racer during a race will not be tolerated and may result in penalty, up to series ban.


Penalties and Appeals
All drivers should adhere to the standards of driving that are outlined below. In addition, the Racing Rules applicable to all racing series' on www.racedepartment.com apply here as well and are incorporated by reference:

ON-TRACK PROTOCOL

1.1 PASSING. It is the responsibility of both the overtaking Driver and the Driver being overtaken to assure safe overtaking. Where two Cars are reasonably alongside each other, each must permit the other Racing room. A Car traveling alone may use the full width of the racetrack. Overtaking may be either right or left depending on prevailing conditions.

1.2 BLOCKING. Any Driver who, in the sole opinion of the Chief Steward, moves in reaction more than once, altering their line based on the actions of pursuing Competitors, or who selects a defensive line and then returns to a racing line between corners or sections of the racetrack may be warned or penalized pursuant to the rules, and such decision shall be Conclusive.

1.3 INCIDENTS. Any Driver who, in the sole opinion of the Chief Steward, is responsible for: an incident where a Car spins, or goes off-track, or suffers a flat tire or other mechanical difficulty requiring it to pit directly for repairs, or an incident of contact resulting in a change of position, may be warned or penalized pursuant to the rules, and such decision shall be Conclusive.

1.4 UNJUSTIFIABLE RISK. Any Competitor who, in the sole opinion of the Chief Steward, engages in any behavior deemed to represent an unjustifiable risk or reckless endangerment may be warned or penalized, and such decision shall be Conclusive.

Adjudication
Penalties shall include, but not be limited to private or public reprimand, deduction of points, loss of grid position, if applicable, for the following race or any other race subsequent to the event in question, loss of all points for the race, loss of points in he overall standings, suspension, and ban. Note that the last two cannot be imposed without at least two of the other examples are first issued in a single season.

Each incident of contact shall be reviewed by the Associate and/or Chief Steward (unless they are involved, and then review will be by a Co-Director of the Series that is not involved) and he will reach a penalty consensus. The Stewards or Directors may consult other series administrators or drivers during this process. Any event involving contact between two or more drivers may be brought to the Stewards as an inquiry by any driver(s) involved in the contact.

If it appears from the official video recordings or from any other additional evidence that there may have been a breach of driving standards or behavior, on or off the track, in a manner the Directors consider to have brought the Championship into disrepute, either Director may request that the Chief Steward consider to investigate this matter further.

Steward Inquiry an Appeal:
APPEAL
Any penalized driver shall have a right to the Stewards, (or one or both of the Series Directors if a Steward is involved in the disputed incident). The two administrators shall choose a regular driver to form a three person tribunal. This body will either uphold the original penalty, or issue a less punitive penalty by majority. If there is no majority consensus, then the least punitive decision shall apply. This decision is final.

Championship points
The Lotus Classic F1 World Championship will awards points as follows:
1st 25, 2nd 18, 3rd 15, 4th 12, 5th 10, 6th 8, 7th 6, 8th 4, 9th 2, 10th 1.

Championship points
The Classic Lotus F1 World Championship awards points as follows:
1st 25, 2nd 18, 3rd 15, 4th 12, 5th 10, 6th 8, 7th 6, 8th 4, 9th 2, 10th 1.

NOTE: Any driver who is involuntarily disconnects during the first half of the race will receive 25% of your points for the place you were in when you got involuntarily disconnected. If the involuntary disconnection occurs within the second half of the race, 50% points will be awarded for the place you were in when you got involuntarily disconnected.

I'm pretty slow in this series, so I'm not sure if I'll be racing with a teammate @ Dyno-Might Motorsports, but should give everyone else plenty of opportunities to run up front as I learn the cars. :thumbsup:

Nice one Robert. Fantastic job on getting everything together for another series. Your hard work and patience is greatly appreciated and I'm sure I echo everyone's thoughts on that :thumbsup: :notworthy:
