Kunos Simulazioni's Marco Massarutto has been at it again, posting yet more delicious looking images from the upcoming free 'Highlands' race track due to be added to Assetto Corsa.
With a scheduled release planned for some time this month, the 'Highlands' track is a four configuration fantasy race circuit located somewhere in the Scottish highlands. Promised to offer suitable layouts for high performance machines and the slower road going content found in Assetto Corsa, 'Highlands' could prove to be a nice change of pace for a simulator mainly focused on the cut and thrust world of real life motorsports.
'Highlands' will be only the second scratch build fantasy track added by Kunos to Assetto Corsa, after the similarly free edition of Black Cat County back in March 2016. What sets the new track apart from BCC however is the Scottish themed scenery and potentially close proximity to the barriers and surrounding street furniture unique to round the houses city tracks. Although some images already revealed due lead us to believe 'Highlands' will have some tight, technical sections, it appears that the track is quite diverse in its design and offers up some much wider and faster sectors that blast out into the open countryside. With four configurations promised by Kunos, we don't yet know if they will be a mix of both wide open road and narrow twisty street sections, or if indeed these configurations make up generally themed unique layouts in their own right.
We expect 'Highlands' will be released during February alongside the other free piece of content, the monstrous Audi Quattro Group B rally car. Possibly at the same time as a new build update to the game.

Assetto Corsa is a racing simulation now available to purchase for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC (via the Steam network).
Modding is cool right? We think so. So much so that we have a very special place on the internet reserved for just that subject.
