This is my attempt to make my real car driveable in Assetto Corsa. It's very much a work-in-progress, but I've heard from enough folks interested in this mod that I figured I'd share what I have now. There's certainly a long way to go, but as-is the car is quite driveable. To give you an idea, here's the current to-do list:
Model
- Interior
- Wheels
- Textures
- Shadows
- Animations
- Lights
- Driver position (currently uses the Kunos Miata's driver position, which is close but not quite right)
- Correct the collider model
Suspension
- Correct travel length, damper, and spring rate values
Engine
- Verify torque curve (using my best guess for now, based on a Miata B6 dyno curve, the factory rated hp/tq numbers, and a 10% drivetrain loss)
- Sounds (currently uses sounds from the Kunos Miata)
- Add other engine options (the currently simulated engine is a B6 SOHC, the least powerful engine offered in the MX-3 at 88hp)
Aero
- Work out some better drag/lift LUTs
Because it took me forever to figure out how to make this work, I'll add here (mostly for any modder interested in using a multilink suspension) that I'm using a multilink (TYPE=ML in suspensions.ini) suspension setup for the rear suspension. This isn't really accurate to the car, but none of the other options are either. I came up with various reasonable approximations using a double wishbone or strut setup (with the lower wishbone in the former and steering arm in the latter acting as the trailing arm), but they exhibited extremely poor performance in either camber or toe (and the latter's toe adjustment was broken as well). The multilink setup I'm using has extremely long upper lateral and trailing links to approximate the straight line movement of the strut, with lower lateral and trailing arms exactly as they are on the actual MX-3 (within my ability to actually measure them). I don't know how to analyze the kinematics so I can't really say whether this is a particularly accurate approximation of the real car's suspension, but it certainly looks like it to me when driving with the suspension visualization turned on.
I have a few YouTube videos showing the car's progress here:
