The 1986 Season of the Brazilian Stock Car Championship was the 8th year of the series, and the final year in which Chevrolet would be a title sponsor and official OEM supporter. As the last season running the modified Brazilian-produced Chevrolet Opala, from this year on, the cars would look less and less "stock", especially with the introduction of the "Batmobile" bodywork in 1987.
By 1986 the landscape for Stock Car had changed substantially from its inception in 1979, cars displayed more sponsors, new drivers had arrived into the sport, like ex-F1 driver and future triple series champion Chico Serra.
