F1 takes to the Autódromo José Carlos Pace circuit this weekend in Brazil.

Formula One returns to Brazil this weekend after missing the 2020 race. The event will see the return of the sprint qualifying format.

Driver’s championship leader Max Verstappen holds a 19 point lead over Lewis Hamilton at a track both drivers tend to perform well on. Their respective teams, Red Bull and Mercedes, are separated by just one point with Mercedes’ slight edge.

Just four races remain in the 2021 season, with the field travelling to Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Abu Dhabi to close out the year. While Verstappen’s 19-point advantage seems safe at this point, constructor’s standings are more hotly contested. Mercedes’s one point lead could easily swing to Red Bull’s advantage before the end of the year, and the 13.5-point lead Ferrari now holds over McLaren looks to be a tight battle for the remainder of the season.

Behind the four top teams, Alpine and Alphatauri are locked at 106 points each. Pierre Gasly’s impressive 86 points this season have offset Yuki Tsunoda’s 20 at Alphatauri, with Alpine’s points being more balanced at 60 and 46 for Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon, respectively.

There remains much to be decided this season in terms of the final driver and constructor rankings. Let us know your thoughts on who might finish ahead of where they are currently ranked, and who will take the win in Sao Paulo this weekend.

if you have to win like this cheating before the end of the season is pathetic but they will be helped again by the FIA just like LH had 26x advantage cutting corners in Bahrain

Damn, once again Hamilton helped by the FIA!!!
Oh, wait...

:)

Yea, I don't think bottas is intentionally complicit in such things. History shows he is not great in the rain hence the Hungary race. I guess I could yet be proved wrong there. What I am curious about is they stated it was the same rear structure that Lewis used in Mexico and possibly U.S.A. Is that why the ruling ultimately took so long? Presumably they would have the same scrutineering at those events?

I´m curious about if they replaced the Rear Wing with the same specs the "failed" one in qualy ¿would there be a possibility to still fail in the sprint and on the race on sunday?
If so, there are I think two options, make sure after race the Wings is ok or for Mercedes to avoid the use of DRS at all on both races. If it´s the last, then the race would be much interesting as possibility to overtake will be quite scarse and maybe Hamilton put some good performance to acoomodate that.

Not sure what to think as apparently Bottas did not have the same Rear Wing issue.

It was reported in practice two that they replaced it with the same spec rear wing.

I'm surprised that people think this is a harsh decision. We've already had a driver disqualified from a podium position after a technical rule break this season, this is very similar. Max was never going to get disqualified for touching a car.

Lewis is somewhat fortunate that there is a sprint race where he may make some ground up before Sunday.

No, +5 on the grid on Sunday.

I dont see this one as a lucky time for Hamilton and also he can have the same failure in any of the next races this wekeend and there for would be DQ on those sessions also. And that is not something you would like to race thinking about. But if they dont use DRS, that would be another story. (they did not use it in FP2, at least I didnt watch Hamilton activating it at any time)
But for sure was really strange the time they took to DQ him.
I have no recall that on a technicall brake of rules there was such much time to define the procedure, DQ is the only option and if you apply further you can allow that later but for determining a DQ, no exuses here. That was odd.
For the fine on Verstappen well, same. Its strange that now with him they start to move toward a more "no tolerance" policy from now on. Not that its a bad statement to make but should had been all around since Parc Ferme ruling started.

I would also punish Toto for the charge against MV. think they are happy with Toto at the Mercedes parent company. NOT! The guy is the worst loser I've ever seen in sports overall. Good advertisement for the Mercedes Benz brand

Blablablabla

He won 7 championships in a row.
Not much of a loser I would say.
