Update March 8, 14:20 CET
Carlos Sainz will not take the start of the race. The Spaniard has been diagnoses with appendicitis, meaning Prema F2 driver Oliver Bearman is going to make his Grand Prix Debut at Jeddah. Remarkably, the 18-year old had scored Pole Position in Formula 2 qualifying - not knowing that instead of getting to start the F2 race from P1, he would actually be in a Ferrari F1 cockpit come race day.

After an uneventful round one, the Formula One circus travels across the Middle East to Saudi Arabia for round two of the World Championship.

Comparing Bahrain to the Jeddah street circuit is like comparing the World Endurance Championship and Formula One - two completely different beasts. The fast-flowing nature of this high-speed venue is sure to produce a different experience to Bahrain. The tyre-shredding stop-start layout of Bahrain could not be further from the upcoming Jeddah street circuit if it tried.

The opening round of the season at Bahrain saw pre-season testing concerns become a reality as Red Bull once again proved this year will be a fight for second place. The battles behind did not particularly inspire fans either with a fairly processional display from 1st to 20th.

Red Bull In Strife?
Coming into the 2024 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, Red Bull are in front of both championships. However, their team boss Christian Horner is in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons.

The Red Bull team principal was cleared by an internal investigation last week following allegations of 'inappropriate behaviour'. This weekend has altered the trajectory of this story entirely. Horner's accuser has been suspended from Red Bull Racing. Leaked text messages, allegedly involving Horner, mean the story remains very much in the public eye.

Max Verstappen's father Jos has been claiming the issues within the team threaten to tear Red Bull Racing apart from the inside out.

Alongside the Red Bull controversy, FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem is currently under investigation for allegedly overturning Fernando Alonso's 10-second penalty at last years Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

F1's Most Boring Season?
Aside from Red Bull's issues, the rest of the grid has a lot of work to do. The front runners are in a league of their own, as proven by the procession at Bahrain. Ferrari has to close quite the gap to Red Bull, and teams like Mclaren and Aston Martin are likely to be fighting closer to the front come mid-season.

It is all well and good having pace in the mid-season, but by the time the results start to come for these other teams, will Red Bull be home and dry? What do you want to see from the midfield over these next few races?

Already making excuses for Hamilton? Started early this year...

Maybe Hamilton will find out how it is to be in the other shoe now, when the team no longer is pampering him, and we will all see how fast he really is when he is the "Alonso", and the other guy is the team's favorite, how about this scenario instead?

As for Horner, honestly, his thing is none of our business, and the fact that such a thing even gets so many column inches just show how boring everything around F1 is these days that they need to give any atention to that.
No Dick, I am not making excuses for Lewis. His is not family, so I don't need to defend him. I am commenting on the way he is driving. He doesn't care anymore. How fast he really is/was is 7 Championships worth.

As far as Horner is concerned, if it was your daughter or sister that this happened to, if indeed it did happened, you would scream to the high heavens about coverup and conspiracy. If he was just banging a cooperative coworker, you are right , it ain't our business. But this doesn't seem the case especially after they suspended her. They would have just fired her.

And the fact that Jos is bumping his gums about it, means Red Bull apparently dropped the ball. Stay tuned.

And now, Helmut Marko is under investigation regarding the whole Horner debacle...

Horner, Marko, Jos Verstappen... What a toxic place Red Bull Racing seems to be.

This is the 4th annual "Jamal Khashoggi Tribute GP", as I like to call it...

And get ready for more sportswashing in 2034 with the Word Cup.
Yep and they actually wanted the 2030 world cup, the one of the 100th anniversary, but thankfully Spain with Portugal and Morocco will host it.

We'll see what's really going on. For me it's about Max, I'm a fan of him and he has been unbeatable for a while now. And he has said he is loyal to Marko. If RB is smart they won't let this increase any further

this circus is not good for Max Verstappen!

People love to sh!t on Lewis, but one thing he did right was remove his dad from his professional equation. Unfortunately, Jos Verstappen ain't Anthony Hamilton. Jos will kick Max's a$$ if he even attempts to grow a brain. I actually feel sorry for the kid being caught up in sippy cup adult's drama.

Seems to me Max just wants to drive. That's it.

What can RB do ? If they truly think that Marko is the leaker, they have to discipline him.

yes, I agree, but Marko is of course a different story

If it was my daughter or sister, that was flirting with her boss? Well i would tell her to not mix business with pleasure, and guess what, unless she would want my help, it would not be any of my business.

As for Lewis, a 7 time world champion should maybe try a little harder then, he is getting a lot of money for someone who is losing against his yet not WDC teammate.

Premium
Ferrari desperate looking how to terminate the Hamilton contract now. This guy doesn’t have the mojo anymore and it would be wise for him to retire from F1 asap.

let's see how it goes. hopefully everyone is being careful. It remains a fast, dangerous ride

strong race from Max! where it was not a good weekend for him with the Redbull soap circus. And so far it seems that Redbull is listening to Verstappen as Marko is not suspended

Ok so yet again an enjoyable race behind max, even if i hoped they would be closer to him mmh :S.. still an improvement over last year xD..

Ah also, leclerc's fastest lap a bit of a surprise, a little hope for more competition in the next races?..great job bearman, a bit disappointed in mclaren and mercedes though
