BTCC DLC Coming to rFactor 2

BTCC cars are the latest content to be confirmed for rFactor 2, joining Donington Park and Brands Hatch as DLC releases scheduled for next month.

rFactor 2's quarterly content drop due next month is shaping up nicely.

While the corporate world surrounding Studio 397 is in apparent shambles, the developer continues to impress with their upcoming content. British Touring Cars are joining the sim as DLC in the coming weeks.

This may not have been the news BTCC fans had ultimately been looking for as compared to the prospect of a full simulator dedicated to these touring cars, but it appears this will have to suffice for the time being.

The BTCC DLC will focus on two cars for the time being, the Infiniti Q50 and Toyota Corolla GR Sport. Each will have its respective 2021 BTCC liveries. Studio 397 plans to release a 2022 update with new cars and the latest liveries later this year.

The writing may have been on the wall for this DLC, as the two other pieces of content announced for the second quarterly release in rFactor 2 were British racing circuits. Donington Park and Brands Hatch have both been confirmed for the sim. This doesn't complete the BTCC calendar, but provides more locations in which to drive these cars.

Very clearly these are cars and tracks developed for the BTCC game, that we're probably never going to get.

Seeing a couple of people mention it'll "help stop the bleeding" but please tell me how making $5000 from selling a few touring cars to the people left playing rF2 will somehow right the course of a company hemorrhaging millions each month.

$5,000 ? Where on earth do you come up with such bs

BTCC mod it has has 20, 000+ current subscribers

lol

Is this really good news though? Seems to confirm (along with the Indycar released to RF2) that this game is the last silver bullet in their holster... That is really sad if you are relying on a 10 year old game with a tiny userbase.

are you crazy ? in february 2022 the peak players record was broken, and this game has a Esport scene very very active, with pro players, like Verstappen...this game has never been as good, and it will improve again and again, it's not the last bullet at all, rF2 is not desperated like AMS2 or Raceroom...
rFactor 2 is above any other sim.

seriously besides making ridiculous videos you come here to spew your hatred against RF2 again...mas will buy you friends or a brain but I think you wouldn't know what to do with it...:poop:

The way I've gathered the BTCC/MSG strategy from reading on the net is as follows:
The official BTCC game has been delayed, not cancelled, but delayed til 2023.
Since they have agreements for both 2021 & 22, they are making the best use they can for the coming two years. So my guess is, we'll see many of the new cars and tracks, but probably not all of them. That will come 'if' the official game does arrive in 23.

AMS2 is doing very well, thank you.

MSG have to very careful with what they do though as the current licence with TOCA for BTCC expires at the end of December 2025. If they expend a lot of time and resources on a standalone game then that will limit their sales... unless they can extend the licence.
The issue will be that they also have to fix NASCAR 21.. that also has a poor reputation so there's likely to be some baggage carried over to any BTCC game.
TBH it would make sense to incorporate the BTCC stuff into rF2 and release a "new" rF2 based game that only includes the BTCC content. If you can control or restrict the options to include mods then it would become very much like the ACC package.
However the real market is going to be the consoles... would it be "easy" to get rF2 to run on a Microsoft games console?

Certainly an exciting edition, can't wait for these cars to be in rf2.

Only concern is when will there be GT4s in this game?

Yeah the guy seemed a bit delusional so I didn't respond. Although RF2 has a higher peak number, AMS2 as we speak has more active users than RF2 according to Steam db.
If someone wants to brag that 1,700 people playing the game at the same time 3 months ago is amazing, well I can't argue with that. Don't get me wrong I like Rfactor 2 but saying the future for the game is bright is a huge stretch.

After the next update I expect GT3, GTE and DPI to get a good player boost. AMS2 is on the rise in my opinion.

I don't think there will be room for those 3 car types due to the need to push out MORE BTCC content. GTE has been eliminated in the States, GT3 is mostly covered except for brands that seem to not be deliverable & DPi, they have the Caddy with a very good Acura mod. I'll place a fiver on BTCC only for the next update.

Sorry I wasn't clear, I was referring to AMS2 getting a boost in those classes.
The BTCC isn't likely to give RF2 much of a boost but this is certainly better than a standalone. A shame that Rfactor2 will never have a legitimate offline championship like a standalone would have but you hope they will at least make the ai serviceable.

Currently I can choose single player race but then got stuck at the garage I couldn't start the race. Verifying integrity of files on steam didn't work. Does anyone have any solution to make it work? I'm too lazy to reinstall the game.

This Q2 2022 drop is going to be awesome! And I think adding this content to rF2 always has been the plan and is not because the standalone BTCC game from MSG seems to have disappeared from the radar. Good thing about MSG is that they could acquire the needed licenses for all this new 2022 content so far. Q3 content drop to throw in some Hypercars and endurance tracks maybe?:D
I believe Paul Jeffrey"s video suggests there will be more BTCC manufacturers in the coming months or year.
Would love WEC content but for now will be happy if they add 2 or 3 more makes like BMW, Honda and/or Hyundai, Ford, Vauxhall, Cupra.
