F1 22 is scheduled to be released on the 1st of July, 2022, and will include the recent real-world track updates for Spain, Australia and Abu Dhabi.
The latest installment in the F1 series will be released to PC, PlayStation 5 and 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One in about six weeks' time. F1 22 will bring a number of changes that players have been asking for in recent years, including VR support for PC users and now select track updates to reflect real-world circuit updates.
Spain, Australia and Abu Dhabi are the latest tracks to be confirmed as receiving updates. In some cases the updates reflect minor changes such as the type of curbing used, and in other cases major revisions to corners or complexes will be incorporated.
Spain's turn 10 will see the significant changes that were implemented, though not yet raced on by Formula 1. In addition, turns 10 through 14 have seen updated off-track areas and several areas of the circuit have updated curbing.
Australia's Albert Park circuit will be updated in F1 22 using LIDAR data to enhance the accuracy or the track's camber and elevation changes. The significant changes to the circuit that affected turns 1, 3, 6, 8/9, 11, 12, and 13 will be reflected in the title. There will also be accurate updates to the curbing and walls around the track.
Yas Marina in Abu Dhabi will be changed to reflect the chicane removal before the hairpin, which itself has more runoff. Turns 11-14 have been replaced by a long, banked corner, and turns 13-15 have been rounded off around the hotel to allow cars to follow more closely.
This is more promising news for F1 22, and should further enhance the player experience. Let us know your thoughts on these track changes or anything else you may be looking forward to in F1 22 in the comments below or on Twitter @RaceDepartment!
