After the past announcements of the last two weeks showcasing a new Ferrari and a new Lamborghini, it is without much surprise that Kunos is announcing the arrival of Porsche's latest GT3 race car in Assetto Corsa Competizione for the 19th of April.
The Porsche 992 GT3 R has been engineered with reliability and ease of use in mind. As GT3 cars are subject to a Balance of Performance in various racing series, Porsche's idea was to focus more on making the car usable for endurance races rather that building the car for pure speed. The displacement of the naturally aspirated engine has been increased to 4.2L to increase the powerband width to "suit gentlemen drivers needs", while the engine itself has been positionned and tilted in a way that allows more room for the diffuser and less load on the rear end to limit stress on the tyres.
The April 19th update could shape up to be even more substantial, as there's still 3 more weeks available before that for more drip feeding announcements. We know the new SRO GT2 class cars are set to come in the game in the future, but there are also still a few tracks from the calendar that are missing in ACC right now, so both scenarios are credible at this stage.
