A mere month after the cars have been released, the Automobilista 2 2023 IMSA Livery Pack is here – thanks to the great effort of the RaceDepartment community.
Reiza Studios ended 2023 with a bang. Or two, if you count the November release of the F-HiTech cars and Part 2 of the Historic Track Pack. Following this, the big Le Mans Update for Automobilista 2 dropped on New Year’s Eve, including no less than seven cars and the iconic French circuit.
Three prototypes, those being the BMW M Hybrid V8, Cadillac V-Series.R and Porsche 963 form the LMDh class since. Meanwhile, the BMW M4 GT3, McLaren 720S GT3 Evo, Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo and Porsche 911 GT3 R (992) were introduced to create the GT3 Gen 2 class. Quite a lot of content, and all of the cars raced in IMSA in 2023.
With the LMP3 class not racing from 2024 onwards, the grid available in AMS2 looks a bit more like that of the current season, sans the LMP2 machinery. Still, the Automobilista 2 2023 IMSA Livery Pack adds a lot of immersion to the sim’s most recent cars.
The liveries were created by @STV_Robin, @GianmarcoFiduci, @SharpShark48 and @José Mª, while @John B. Ellis provided custom AI files to add in real drivers and their attributes. In total, the pack adds 24 GTD liveries and 12 GTP paint schemes. On to the most important question of them all, though…
Both the 2023 title-winning Caddy and Rexy feature in the Automobilista 2 2023 IMSA Livery Pack.
Due to the number of available livery slots, some improvising was needed as well. This is why a paint scheme originally run on a DPi car has found its way into the Cadillac livery roster, or two retro BMW schemes can be found among the M Hybrid V8 lineup. These filler liveries fit in perfectly, though.
What about the 2024 grid, then? Easy there – the IMSA season has only just started with the 24 Hours of Daytona. With the 2023 grid as a basis, maybe the 2024 pack is not too far off, either. It could also see an expansion in variety. In the December dev update, Reiza Studios Founder and Lead Developer Renato Simioni hinted at “red hot news” to possibly look forward to in early 2024 in regards to cars. Simioni added that “it’s fair to expect them to have a more latin flavour to them.”
More competition in the GTD class as well? It is unclear what Reiza has got up their sleeves for 2024…
In regards to IMSA, this could mean the arrival of the Lamborghini SC63, which is due to make its real-life debut in the series in 2024. The exact date is yet to be determined, though. The combination of “red hot” and “latin flavour” could also hint at a certain other legendary Italian sports car brand that just so happened to win the 2023 edition of Le Mans. After all, the iconic race was the focus of the latest content release.
In the meantime, the Automobilista 2 2023 IMSA Livery Pack allows you to enjoy US-based sports car racing very well already. Perhaps it will soon feature more competition on the virtual grids. As for tracks, six of the 8 rounds contested by both GTP and GTD are already in AMS2. The only two tracks that are missing are Sebring and Road Atlanta. Seeing that two more classic American endurance venues have already been teased, we would have two very strong candidates for those…

RaceDepartment Community Adds IMSA Flavor
So, the RaceDepartment community took it upon themselves to create the appropriate liveries. The result is the 2023 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Pack. Not all cars of the 2023 season are there, of course, with the Acura ARX-06 missing to round out the GTP grid (as IMSA calls the Hypercar class). Additionally, four more GT3 models would be required – plus the Oreca 07 LMP2 and the two LMP3 models. With the LMP3 class not racing from 2024 onwards, the grid available in AMS2 looks a bit more like that of the current season, sans the LMP2 machinery. Automobilista 2 2023 IMSA Livery Pack: Is Rexy In It?
Yes, indeed! The AO Racing GTD Porsche featuring the dinosaur-inspired livery is a modern classic already. Of course, it could not be left out of the pack. In fact, a Roxy livery comes optional with the download. The purple cousin of Rexy is run on an LMP2 this season, but can be used on the GTD Porsche instead in AMS2.Both the 2023 title-winning Caddy and Rexy feature in the Automobilista 2 2023 IMSA Livery Pack.
