New content is finally around the corner for Le Mans Ultimate: The 2024 WEC season had already been confirmed to be coming to the sim - and the BMW M Hybrid V8 is going to be the first step.

UPDATE May 27, 2024, 18:20 CEST

After releasing the teaser in the morning, Le Mans Ultimate confirmed what the community seemed to be able to hear from the video already: The BMW M Hybrid V8 is coming to the LMU grid. The Hypercar that made its WEC debut in 2024 will be available on June 10 - and completely for free, as the announcement trailer underscored.

ORIGINAL ARTICLE May 27, 2024, 11:01 CEST

When Le Mans Ultimate released into Early Access on the eve of the 2024 World Endurance Championship season, it did not feature the current class of cars or tracks - yet. Players have all cars (sans the Le Mans-only Garage 56 NASCAR entry) and circuits of the 2023 campaign at their disposal, but with the surge in popularity the real series is currently experiencing, the current grid cannot come soon enough for many.

Whether or not it is eventually going to be a full season's worth of content in a single pack or a more gradual release is not known yet, but Le Mans Ultimate will receive its next big patch ahead of the real 2024 24 Hours of Le Mans, which take place from June 15 to 16. A teaser now confirms June 10 to be the date endurance fans should be looking forward to.

Onboard A BMW?

The teaser, released on Twitter and the LMU YouTube channel does not show much - or anything other than the Circuit de La Sarthe, really. But the caption of "A new arrival is on its way..." coupled with the onboard engine sound of the car the teaser is shot from hints at a brand-new prototype - which sounds suspiciously like the BMW M Hybrid V8.

Despite the car making its racing debut in 2023 already, it has only started racing in WEC this season, having previously competed in IMSA only. Now, it is present in both series, although it has been a bit of a struggle for the Bavarian manufacturer thus far. The best finish for a BMW in the 2024 WEC season was sixth in Imola for Robin Frijns, René Rast and Sheldon van der Linde.

It will be interesting to see further teasers until June 10 - after all, there is a lot more content to theoretically choose from. Not only are there four new tracks on the calendar (Qatar, Imola, Interlagos, COTA), there are also four new Hypercars (BMW M Hybrid V8, Alpine A424, Lamborghini SC63, Isotta Fraschini Tipo 6-C) plus the extensively reworked Peugeot 9X8 on the grid - as well as the class of GT3 cars, which replaced the outgoing GTEs.

However, Motorsport Games CEO Stephen Hood also stated that "the first piece of content comes online in June and thereafter, pretty much, every two or three months we're looking to launch additional content – ideally in packs" in early May - so unless the plan has changed since then, more patience could be needed.

Interestingly, the "Coming June 10" graphic does not feature the 2024 liveries for either of the three Hypercars on it.

I really hope they are getting their stuff together with LMU and that it becomes the complete package of a sim we are all waiting for.. in a reasonable amount of time!
In the mean time I am having so much fun in ACC and sometimes I think that if there was a way to add WEC cars to ACC we would end this lifelong wait for a proper WEC sim.. one can dream, right?

So it's still free isn't it because it's an early access beta version? So what, I'm not able to test it as my hard disk is full of simulators, same happened for Rennsport Beta, not tested yet :(. Reason: too many AC mods installed :)

Good luck!

Don't forget this game is still in early beta, plans to start charging for online and future updates, with possible subscription service and this is the last free update they have planned. Never mind the fact the game is losing players at an amazing rate but hey guys lets charge and completely kill the game.

BTW they plan to start charging soon, meanwhile.. No VR, No TrackIR, basic replay system, and No Actual Damage models

Yes, my opinion is the same as yours, but there are people everywhere who defend him, and even this tolerance and praise can hurt the game, whether in terms of money or potential, it is extremely disappointing, I don't know why anyone would be angry about the truth. In my opinion, it is possible to save it by referring to the real evaluation, yes, save not vilify. It's pretty bad now, isn't it?

Personally I don’t care about all the negativity about this game

In his core - the driving itself - it’s already brilliant. Loving it. I do not fire it up that much as maybe 2-3 other titles due the limited content, but when I do, I really enjoy it .
Great improvement over rF2 which has some unbalanced violent FFB on my CSL DD

How cool is this game, I really hope it becomes popular, I can't wait to see the next content coming. Frankly, I don't understand those who always complain that there are subscriptions and paid content.
Good for you if you're happy to pay to play all the time. But I have already way too many subscriptions as it is (in fact, I'm cancelling a few this month). Everything now is about subscriptions, it seems.

As long as the subscription is for online play, that's fine with me because I play offline only. But there is a limit to the amount of subscriptions one can have.

FREE BMW let the crying continue
I think the negativity comes from a certain ambiguity about what is included in the early release of the game. Those (like me) who bought LMU in EA were probably under the impression that the money we paid included the full 2023 and 2024 seasons. But recently, Hood mentioned DLC content, but it was very vague. Will EA buyers have to buy the new 2024 cars and tracks? What was actually included in the EA purchase?

I kinda assumed knowing S397 history with DLCs that 2024 will be a paid content. But I hoped that it at least will be one complete package.
Now with the "promotional" free BMW car it seems that it's not the case and they are going to repeat their worst traditions from rF2 and actually release the 2024 cars and tracks in batches of several paid DLCs.
