EA Sports F1 23 Cover Star Max Verstappen of Red Bull Racing.jpg
Not much has been revealed about F1 23 yet, but in the tradition of other sports games, EA Sports have unveiled the cover stars for the upcoming edition of the official Formula One game - who are likely not much of a surprise to fans of the sport. More info on the title is scheduled to be released soon as well.

After featuring Lando Norris, Charles Leclerc and George Russell on the cover of the F1 22 Standard Edition, as well as Fernando Alonso, Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen and Sebastian Vettel on the Champions Edition cover, the personnel count for the F1 23 artwork has been reduced, but there are still going to be different covers for the two editions.

Reigning Champion to Feature

The spotlight for the new game will shine on Verstappen: The 2021 and 2022 World Champion has recently signed a partnership agreement with EA Sports to create content with the publisher. As a result, it is a logical consequence for the Dutchman to be featured on the cover of F1 23's Champions Edition.

For the Standard Edition, familiar faces return to the artwork: Seven-time World Champion and Mercedes driver Hamilton will adorn the cover alongside Ferrari ace Leclerc and McLaren pilot Norris.

New Story Mode Teased

While the official announcement for F1 23 is scheduled to drop on May 3rd, 5pm CEST, an intricate announcement of Devon Butler's new team called Konnersport has been released ahead of time. Butler served as the antagonist in earlier Braking Point story modes in the F1 series and seems to be back with his own team and car for F1 23.

A presentation video featuring racing driver and presenter Naomi Schiff as the host suggests that the next chapter of Braking Point - which might return under a different name - is imminent in F1 23.

But Max's vocal dismissal of prior F1 titles stands in stark relief to this year's partnership; I only wish that this new relationship symbolized meaningful advancements in F1 23 as a simulation....
Does Max even have control of his image when it comes to the F1 game? Or does the license authorize EA to put any driver of their choice on the cover?

Good point--and I have no idea what the actual answer is to that question ... but Max's subsequent level of involvement in actual online F1 23 races will categorically answer that question for us. As the world's first F1 World Champion/professional-level simracer, Max would have already acknowledged his imminent participation, would he not? It just seems that his absence will be glaringly conspicuous, so this very-limited partnership seems to damage both the EA and Max Verstappen brands if it's no more than a photo shoot. Hopefully, Max will be given the opportunity to give his unique input and EA will incorporate his insights into the franchise.

No VR cover No buy

Garbage VR like in F1 22 = no buy.
Also shouldn't the srandard edition cover consist of drivers who were in the Top 3 of last year or if not due to the Champion Edition, be it the drivers in 2.nd, 3.rd and 4.th ? But that would make too much sense.
EDIT: Have a look EA, it takes about 10 extra minutes to make a cover art that doesn't look like trash.

It's already been confirmed by a beta tester that the head movement jitter/stutter bug in VR is EXACTLY the same as with F1 2022.

So I fully gave up on this title. EA ruined a franchise once again. Now I'm afraid that they did the same with Dirt Rally. Let's see what WRC 23 but I expect the worst possible.

Thanks for the info, very much appreciated and i know at least to avoid the game like the plague. Such a shame really.

As the subject is the cover art, I was just joking there was no cover version in VR... ;)

Wasn't gonna buy it anyway. Drove a bit when F1 22 had a free weekend and passed on it yet again.

I know I just quoted you in the comment because it was also VR related :) so I thought that you might be interested.

Same for me, also drove only on the free weekend for 22 and I'll skip this one too.

Max is also being blamed for being on a cover, the man can never do it right :roflmao:
The poor man. Do you also work at skysports F1??

What do you think? He just takes a lot of money from them. just like the new Fifa football game every year, you think Lionel Messi cares about the realism of such a football game.
stop defending him. he is a hypocrite, thats the point. and for the sake of argument Messi actually did care for the realism in fifa. hence the scripting being far less. max has no opinion and has double standards. only reason max is doing this is because his popularity went down bad. he is a **** rolemodel and teammate. no sportmanship. I could go on. again play the game but don't defend a person like that. makes you look stupid

EA moment

What exactly is this cover going to cover? Do people even buy physical media anymore?

I couldn’t care less if they spent less than 10 mins on the art, have Max, other drivers, cars or butterflies on this marketing image.

Micheal Masi did Max Verstappen absolutely no favors when he fumbled F1 regulations at the end of the 2021 Abu Dhabi GP. Personally, I suspect Max would have caught Lewis out by the end, even if he had to negotiate his way past a few backmarkers. Worst-case scenario: Verstappen overcooks his pass a bit, slides into Lewis, and cooly exits the cockpit as World Champion. Wouldn’t be the first time that happened. Best case scenario is we get an ending to rival Monaco in ‘92 and ‘93, winner takes all. As it was, we got a worse-than-worst case scenario! Moreover, Lewis silenced any doubters that day—he played a perfect hand given the situation—and deserved either a record victory or a worthy, honorable defeat. He was robbed of either possibility that day.

You should definitely get the standard edition

At the end of the day, Max will always be remembered as the 2021 champion.
