Le Mans Ultimate: Portimão and Toyota Gameplay Showcased

Le Mans Ultimate - Portimão and Toyota Gameplay Showcased RD.jpg
Both the Toyota GR010 Hypercar and Portimão’s Algarve International Circuit have been showcased in more detail for Le Mans Ultimate.

As we edge ever closer to the impending launch of Le Mans Ultimate – the official game of the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the FIA World Endurance Championship – further gameplay footage has been published.

You can discuss Le Mans Ultimate in our new dedicated forum area.

Following stills of the Vanwall and footage of the Ferrari 499P powering around Monza, next up is the reigning WEC title-winning vehicle, the Toyota GR010 at Fuji Speedway the Algarve International Circuit near Portimão.

The Japanese car has been shown for the title previously, but only very briefly during the February release date trailer.

Now we can hear the combination of the twin-turbo V6 and hybrid system in action for the first time within this particular sim – to date, it has only officially featured within Gran Turismo 7. Much like the prior Prancing Horse example, you’d be hard-pressed to hear the difference between this and an on-board video from the real world.

The new footage allows us to further view the exterior of the 2022 24 Hours of Le Mans winner, which appears to have been recreated in exacting detail. However, of note in this footage, there are zero interior shots – all footage from onboard the vehicle is via a bumper-mounted camera angle.

Similarly, the venue has been seen previously, however only as still work-in-progress images with visible wireframes.

Toyota GR010 in Le Mans Ultimate

A new track for the Le Mans Ultimate – when compared to developer Studio 397’s venerable rFactor 2 platform – progress on its creation is welcome.

The entire calendar for the 2023 WEC season is scheduled for inclusion, with Sebring, Bahrain, and Fuji yet to be shown within LMU. Likewise, the Glickenhaus SCG007s, Cadillac V-Series.R and every GTE apart from the Ferrari are currently missing in-engine debuts.

Under the stewardship of Motorsport Games, Le Mans Ultimate is set for a release on PC via Steam on 20th February. It is expected to feature an asynchronous multiplayer mode alongside a derivation of the RaceControl online ranking system debuted within rFactor 2 last year.

What do you think about the Toyota gameplay footage? Let us know in the comments below or discuss in our forum.

Yeah, the teaser isn't the best one but who cares at the end. The amount of slack this studio get's for this title before it's even released is pretty asthonishing. And while it's propably the most transparent product in development where we know, see and especialy hear what we get based upon our experience with recent rF2 developments and everything that has been showcased and explained, I still don't get why people can't give it a rest and wait with their judgement until it's released. I fully expect there to be teething issues as with every new product that's released to the masses but it's also interesting to see how a more focused and polished package based upon the rF2 engine will look and feel like at the end and wich new features it brings. AMS2 needed three years to get where it is now developed on a proven game engine developed with a AAA budget. So this product looks very interesting in my eyes. Fingers crossed that we get to experience something fresh and exciting. :)

Don't you mean "In spite of the stewardship of Motorsport Games"?

The opening seconds was terrible, the first thing you see is driving along a straight that could be from a number of games released 10 years ago.. It did look better at other parts but does show that it is really just a big mod on top of the existing engine with some updates to a real rule set (i assume).

I do hope it goes well as I want all serious sims to do well, for that reason i may buy it even though it won't be my cup of tea as I am not much of a single player guy. I am more a MP person and I figure that this endurance sim online will be more dedicated to sprint races. I love the content though, I am a fan of endurance and prototypes.

Well, they removed it from their Steam page and they don't want to answer any questions about it.

Let's hope so, we'll see.
Well that answers my last proposition of i may buy it to support them even if I may not really use it. I don't have a monitor to use so I won't buy something I can't even load.
We all know how random the graphical experience can be on rf2 content in VR, perhaps they could not get a consistent quality in VR to release it like that.

rF2 version of Lemans is better then all other versions I have in sims.

None of the others have decent terrain imo ( AMS2 is passable )
When you put wheels on the grass is like arcade compared to rF2.

I can't attest to iRacing Lemans.
Most dont have LED lighted boards including AMS2
That is a big immersion bonus for me.
Gives you better warnings at night besides looking authentic and just better.
Simulated 24H Lemans race without lighted boards would be a fizzer for me.

With my setup rF2 works quite well in VR, I have no real issues. AMS2/AC are a bit better but rF2 is really good when it comes to VR.

My random experience with rF2 is not VR itself but mainly the content, about 90% of the content looks simply not good enough(and the FFB is not consistent too with all cars) but 10% looks and drives great(porsche 992 on long beach for example). I understood that LMU gets consistent quality when it comes to content, but the new video of the new track in this news post looks much worse than the previous video with Monza. So I'm already starting to question this...

But having said that: S397/MSG is VERY unprofessional to initially announce LMU with VR on their Steam page and then just out of nothing: remove it. And when people ask the dev's about it; they don't want to comment they even threaten people to ban them if they "ping dev's about it". Terrible communication of S397/MSG, no wonder that they stock became a penny stock -99.17% all time and in all honesty; they deserve it if they communicate like this to their consumer/buyers. The community is completely ignored by S397/MSG and the smallest thing that they could do is to just say in a normal/polite way what's going on about this subject, but they simply refuse to do so. They could learn a lot from Reiza/Kunos when it comes to customer feedback/approach.

Yes, I could have been clearer, my VR in rf2 is good. performance is good, it is the random content that looks bad but from memory not all of it was old tracks. It is probably fair to assume that the new LMU tracks have all the updates required so the lighting doesn't look bad in VR.

It's always nice when a trailer doesn't just go for eye candy fluff to grab attention...

LMU as a WEC game deserves to be more than mere eye candy to distract from the physics being outside the realm of realism...

Let's just hope for the best. Some years ago it was my dream to have a fully WEC game when the LMP1 rockets ruled.
I hope main functions like championship scoring will work well and properly. It's not a big issue for me when graphics are not among the best. Way more important is a consistent, balanced and nice driving experience. Fingers crossed for the devs (and us) they can deliver. 1 month to go.

This is how they present a game, which is supposed to be released in about one month? That's terrible. Either the game is not ready or UI designers working previously on rF2 now work as PR specialists ‍:D
With my recent appalling experiences with RF2 continually crashing, despite hrs and hrs of time trying just about everything, I will be in no hurry for this new game

rF2 has been remarkably stable since they addressed the AMD driver issues. If you need any help, gimmie a shout. First thing to try is using windows to rename the UserData folder. Also make sure in Steam you have the newest version which is under the Beta tab and choose NONE.

Perhaps I'll try this too. I also have big issues for quite a while, around Bahrain release, and no glue about the reason.

yeah you ask for Forza trailer ;)
I know you are slower, so I will be nice on you and I wil try to explain it. I want to see real gameplay. If you consider watching replay videos to be a gameplay, it’s your problem. When I play simulators, I use cocpit cam and I enjoy immersion of beiing inside of the car. Others send 1 month before the release beta version to selected gamers to let them share their feelings and gameplay videos with public. This “teaser” one month before the game launch is weak even for S397

I dont know what is happening with bad performance.
Same Res / quality rF2 is the best smoothest fps sim I have period.

Sorry that is ISIMotor for you, for some perfect others a nightmare.
Just look at GTR 2. 16 years on and people still can't get it running and then take years learning all the tricks to it just like the well versed rF2 users know.

I think most detractors hit a wall for something then just give up.
Steam is littered with them.
I would not call myself a simmer if I could not get on top of any sim. :coffee:

You are not supposed to need any help or guides if game is designed and updated properly. Maybe his problems have solution, but it's still clear he has reason not to believe S397 is able to deliver good game on day one if they can't resolve issues of previous release in more than 10 years right?
