What's The One Modern Sim You Haven't Yet Tried, And Why?

One person might have to not even try something out for many reasons. In the case of sim racing, there are a few different sims on the market. Have you tried them all, or are you like me, not having tried that one sim because of reasons?

Now, I would like to get things out of the way. The one sim I have yet to try is iRacing. Why? Because the payment system turns me off. Also, I have a limited interest in oval racing.

So, what are the opportunities to select here? Well, that depends on what you count as a "modern sim". For me, that would be the following:
  • Assetto Corsa
  • Assetto Corsa Competizione
  • rFactor 2
  • RaceRoom Racing Experience
  • Automobilista 2
  • iRacing
Reason: Those are the full-fledged simulators that still receive updates. Assetto Corsa more through community means than developer engagement.

Now to add to that, what could make you try that one sim?

A focus on endurance racing and LMDh could bring me to try out iRacing. And with the recent addition of the BMW M Hybrid V8, iRacing could fulfil my requirements. Adding a few more LMDhs would be needed for me, though.

So what is your sim you have yet to try, why and what would bring you to try it out?

Dumped iRacing two years ago. Couldn't afford it anymore. As for the list the only ones I actively play still are AMS2 and AC. Though I do load up RaceRoom sometimes due to the crazy number of AI you can run at the Nurburgring.

Own all, except let my iRacing sub run out due to the extra cost and on my side of the world there wasn't always the Car / Track combo I wanted to race on, also thought the addition of AI would keep me there, but again implementation was slow at that stage, so decided to not continue subscription.

Which meant more money for all the other Sims that I have and their DLC's.:)

I'm more of an off-line / Single Player racer / Screenshooter, with the exception of 'Wreckfest' multiplayer:D

I have everything on the list, and I play them all, with the exception of iRacing. It's not that I didn't think that iRacing is good. I liked a lot of the cars, especially the skippy, but when my subscription ran out a few years ago, I figured I didn't play it enough to justify the money. I might go back some day, but for now I am enjoying AC, ACC, rFactor2, AMS2, and Raceroom.

I have all of them and I play all of them except iracing which has expired my subscription

I don't pay for any subscriptions, so never got iRacing. Cost of iRacing for a decade can buy you some nice simgear.
It is true that iRacing is more expensive than, say, rFactor 2. It's net $3 per month for the membership and the DLC is roughly 50% more than rF2. I own both and all the DLC for both so have a pretty good idea what the costs are :). That said, I can race iRacing all day, every day if I want, with cars and tracks that I like, so it's a great deal in that respect.

I have all and have enjoyed aspects of each of them over the years.
I'm quite honestly on a little hiatus because each of them has aspects that put me off and I have no motivation to fire them up anymore.
IMO, they're all too broken in one way or another :)

I have not tried any modern sim yet (and I think I will continue without trying it) because Assetto Corsa already takes up all my sim time and also gives me everything I need: all kinds of cars, tracks, periods, championships... and above all , because my wife would kill me if I spent even more time sitting on my rig... :cautious:

Never tried Raceroom or iRacing. I really struggle to find enough time to sit in my rig these days as it is, so I only manage to squeeze out the ocasional race in AC & AMS2.

with a simucube 2 pro it's obvious that I have the money for everygames, and I have tried everything.

But now I only play :
1) rFactor 2
2) ACC
3) AMS2
4) Dirt rally 2
5) Raceroom
6) iRacing

nothing else

I own all them but only play one of them as it checks all the boxes for me.
Best multiplayer
Best AI
Best VR performance
Best racing variety
Continually adding new features to the software

No vr no buy here... So no WRC series sadly...
Also I don't like/afford iRacing scheme... So that one out also.
Else I own and have and played all other simulators.
Racing games are not my cup of tea... So Forza, grand Turismo, F1 and other racing franchises are also out from my catalog.

iRacing - cost and subscription - zero interest

Only ones I've used in the last 2-3 years though have been AC (for pre 1972) and AMS (for 1970s on) content.

I should love ACC, but the lack of ability to customise my own AI grid kills it for me personally for anything other than a few laps.

Iracing definitely. For starters, they stole intellectual property from David Noonan of the US Pits back when Iracing was called FIRST. Also for the fact they went Cease and desist crazy when Henry first bought the source code of NR 2003. Lastly they tried to sue Tim McArthur when he was working his stuff within the legal bounds, which they lost, they settled with McArthur for an undisclosed amount, which was quite alot, and McArthur went on to develop Race2Play.
