Heading into the second half of the 2024 DTM Esports Pro competition on RaceRoom, Tim Jarschel sat in a dominant championship position. However, last time out in Round 3, it was Jeffrey Rietveld and Nikodem Wisniewski who shared the race victories.

The fourth of six rounds headed to a virtual Sachsenring, as some of the world’s best GT3 sim racers competed for a share of the €15,000 cash prize pool.

Race 1

Jarschel was back at his peak form at the eastern venue, claiming pole position for the 20-minute sprint race ahead of perennial contender Kevin Siggy, Round 3 race winner Wisniewski and a resurgent Erhan Jajovski.

Despite Jajovski trying to make a move around the outside of Castrol Omega, that top four order remained the same in the opening stages.

Things were not quite as straightforward further back in the pack, as Axel Vermeylen and Leandro Werle pirouetted down the hill towards the Sachsen Kurve.

As the race progressed, Jarchel and Siggy bolted, pulling away from the chasing field. At one point, the Redline Audi closed to within 0.2s, but on the final two tours, the Falken Porsche eked out a 0.7s gap to win for the second (third on track) time this season.

Race 2

Another qualifying session, another pole position for Jarschel for the longer 30-minute race, in a top 10 that featured no less than eight Porsche 911s and two Audi R8s.

This time, Wisniewski got the best start of the two on the front row, leaping into an early advantage. Rietveld followed the G2 Esports driver around the outside of the Coca-Cola Kurve, but just behind Csincsik was tapped into a spin and pandemonium ensued.

A handful of cars made it through, but a significant pile-up witnessed several drivers wiped out of contention including Jack Keithley, Jajovski and Jakub Brzezinski.

With 10 minutes nearly complete, the top five were separated by just 1.5s. Jarschel and Rietveld decided to complete their mandatory pitstops first, Wisniewski, Isaac Price and Siggy the next lap.

Once the stops were completed the (then net) top three positions remained the same, although Siggy jumped Price for fourth. While that same top five continued to set a searing pace, no mistakes were made, and the post-pitstop positions remained the same until the end. Wisniewski picked up his third (second on track) win of the season.

Jarschel’s incredible pace and consistency means the Falken driver remains the clear favourite for the title, with two rounds remaining – the next at the Red Bull Ring, 12th April 2024.
