But surely different engines have different ranges in which they best utilise the HP?

I'm in no way educated on the subject, I just thought that had always been the case with engine manufacturers.
 
It has nothing to do with horsepower though. Perhaps torque (although usually the engine with the most horsepower will also produce the most torque in F1)

Then you have drive-ability of the engine which is not linked to the amount of horsepower.
That´s more engine maps and torque.

Some engines are more usable, some not, some smooth power delivery, some not.
But horsepower is horsepower. It will affect some of the above but if you have the most horsepower you will always have the most horsepower.
 
Does anyone know if this is the original number on the car?
Or if they numbered that one and another one for Rosberg/Hamilton?

Because the number is the same as Hamilton´s.
