Adding a cheap gpu to power 4th screen

i currently run a 24” tripple screen setup. I have added a 4th screen with is powered off the hdmi of my 1080ti

I would like to upgrade to 27” screens running quad hd (2k) so will need all the power to run the three screen.

So would it be an idea to buy a cheap gpu to run the 4th screen. This screen simply runs the std windows apps

You might not even need to buy another GPU even if it would work. I used to run a 4th monitor off my motherboard graphics port for extra dashboard software. I think I read on a forum somewhere that it may induce some lag if you are very particular about that kind of thing. Honestly I never noticed it though. I had to enable motherboard graphics in the BIOS to get it to work but it definitely works.

I once used a usb to hdmi converter to do something similar.
But it was a single monitor on the Gpu and a small monitor on a usb-hdmi.
Also if I recall right i use it as extended monitor and not sure if it works any other way.
