Assetto Corsa in VR with a weak CPU?

Hey everyone,
I've been playing Assetto for a while now and I've come to love driving on servers that host freeroam maps such as Shutoko or LA Canyons. I usually play on very high settings with Pure and C13 Aegis using a hardware combination a lot of people might find questionable: i5 4460 paired with MSI's variation of the GTX 1660 Ti.

Depending on the map and certain in-game situations i normally hover around 70-90 fps.
Now, I really wanted to try this game in VR to experience the immersion, but I'm worried about whether or not my CPU could even handle running this game at reasonable frames as it's utilization during normal gameplay on the aforementioned maps is always around ~90-95%.
I highly doubt it could provide me with 80-90 frames, so I'm assuming I'd have to make use of ASW so that the target framerate can be as low as 40.

What do you guys think? Could this CPU somehow deliver playable frames on open maps such as Shutoko or LA Canyons? Any settings I should look into that could seriously reduce my CPU usage? Money's tight right now and a reasonable CPU upgrade would require me to upgrade my Motherboard first, so I think I'll have to try and look past that option for now.
