Automobilista 2 is getting better and better.

Hi !

I have been a AMS2 user from the early beginning and it is really stunning to see
the sim developing to one of the most impressive sim's ever.

Graphics and gameplay have massively improved since the last updates.

The "live weather" and "historic weather" is really unique and awesome !

like to see some new impressions ?
Have a look at my channel for some quick racing action in AMS2 newest version in
4K with maximum details and 60fps (video language in german)

I am very interested for your opinion on the "new" AMS2

Cheers and have a nice day !

Censoring is not the answer, their own words will cause their mental pain in time. How do we know their intentions if we Censor them? How do we identify good from bad if we sensor people? Censorship is not the answer. Debate and ignore ignorance is. I'm sure they can learn something from this Discussion & push back from reasonable people, Censoring , they won't learn anything and it will create more underground hatred in society.
I understand your concern. But its stifling other people from speaking and engaging in meaningful conversation. By griefing and trolling forums, its constructively censoring others, hijacking topics and causing toxicity. This is more damaging that what you think. Anyone with the right mind would leave this forum. All value in this is lost.
In principle you may be right, but in reality, lines can be crossed.
The integrity of any forum is jeopardized if its the loudest most persistent people that never let others engage in topics.

The conversation simply cannot advance and debating them is useless.

Censorship is not the answer. Debate and ignore ignorance is
Both points have merit, and since we are a discussion forum on the internet all shades of opinion are likely to turn up.
Debating the person posting rather than the thread topic only gives them more oxygen.

I’ve never seen this type of behavior in any game forum regardless of genre. Where a few misinformed individuals take time out of their lives to stalk a game and its supporters and subject them to repetitive opinion based abuse.
AC had a lot of that in the beginning, mainly from the old garde of the rFactor/GTR2 days, the "it's got nice graphics so the physics must be bad" crowd. There was a lot of that on the old ISI rF2 forums back in the Associat0r days if anybody remembers. Sim Racing was still more of a niche back then and there weren't ten thousand YouTube Channels dedicated to the thing.

If RD refuses monitor these individuals, I suggest everyone block them.
If you block them you can't refute their arguments. That may not help you convince them, but it may help convince other people who are just reading along. And you cannot make fun of them, which is the biggest loss. Ridicule is often the best answer.

I understand this more than most.

The problem is the vast vast majority of repetitive AMS2 criticism is devoid of original thought and simply parroted from other influencer created echo chambers.

The most effective propaganda takes a sliver of truth, twists it and more importantly repeats it to shape a narrative.

This incessant AMS2 bashing from individuals who have made no reputation for themselves in any other context except AMS2 bashing is a telltale sign. But they are shaping the narrative. That's why we still see 'sim-cade" , "limitation of the madness engine" repeated confidently and anyone who is down with AMS2 instantaneously labeled as a "fanboy".

It is absolutely not the case in truth, but the sheer numbers of people who have heard this over and over again themselves, and then repeat it leaves a relatively few number of people who actually KNOW that it's not the case to refute EVERY forum thread that gets derailed because of it.

Its the mal-intent I have an issue with ultimately. If you enjoy another sim...go!!!...enjoy it, start a YT channel if you love it so much and have value to add. Otherwise, you are leaching on others.

Its so much easier to tear something down than create.

In any event, my message is...AMS2 is on the move, upwards, stronger every update. The next time you think you're driving the ultimate racing sim and tire management doesn't factor into your thought process the entire race...think about that...watch an actual RL race on TV...ask yourself how "real" your sims.

I can understand the frustration of this individual, and how they would want to silence differing opinions. Censorship is not the answer - nor is the block function. Seriously - thats baby talk.

What is more apparent is the reality - the patch dropped yesterday and the game has literally not changed at all yes they tweaked tire grip settings but really - its just a stab in the dark from them by this point. The metalmorrow for example is very slippery. The new track was one of the most uninspired from even automobilista 1. It is a real shame they are scraping the bottom of the barrel now. And 25% less people came back to play it on patch day. I was one of them.

It is a shame the game has gone like this.

As for the people complaining about more objective facets of the title, well - it may be baby talk to not address those correctly, but its no secret there is a severe lack of threads for this game, so we must make do.

The big deal though is that for literally 10 usd one can buy assetto corsa and the RSS formula hybrid online (but do not forget the 2017 model is free; the 2019 or 21/22/20 models are like a fiver) and be some 140 dollars better off. Even a 'fantasy' track in AC called blackwood from liveforspeed, is actually better than most AMS2 tracks.

I want to talk about AMS2 honestly and in the best possible light, but the game is not getting better and better - but know - I want it to get 'better and better.'

Perhaps instead of refuting the honesty above, one could tell one how it is getting better and better - and substantiate how the game is amazing - as I am sure people like steelcast will tell you it is, and worthy of inordinate amounts of time. Then why is todays majority-max (the mean value not the average) only 230.

Im not talking about viewpoint censorship her fellas. Im talking about limiting those who are constantly banging pots & pans while others are trying to have a discussion and engage in honest debate. There is a huge difference.

Its totally appropriate for a host/venue to identify those individuals whose intent is to disrupt, harass, grief and engage in hostility and escort them to the door.

AMS2 is a fantastic sim and is pushing the market forward in many ways. Its 100% playable and enjoyable and engaging
Then why is it not more popular? Numbers peak every time a major update is released but then gradually dwindle away to a few hundred again. The only way to interpret this is that those players who have been unimpressed with the game try the latest version in the hope that it will be noticeably improved - sadly, I'm one of that group.

How is that not censorship? If someone is not actually breaking the forum rules, limiting what they can post because some people don't like what's being said is the start of going down a very slippery slope.

The steam numbers are the latest cudgel of the day parroted ad nauseam.

Leagues I know have doubled in size bringing players from other sims and there are more public lobbies at different times than ever before even without a rating system or career mode. Frequently when I can public race there are people in the lobby chat saying how shocked they are at how good it is.

My own belief is without a MPRS, people aren’t invested in session play. Its too easy to drop races. On top of this lobby creators are making long format weekends. Many people don’t have an hour for one race with no consequences so they leave the lobby and go grab a quick one in ACC.

Something good is happening behind these numbers. There’s enthusiasm with AMS2 and its growing. Perhaps slowly. But is growing

As far as censorship is concerned, yes. But im not advocating for viewpoint censorship which is what you are describing. Im talking about censoring griefers and trolls. Those that aren’t interested in playing, seeing it improve or know enough about the sim who are simply here to harass those that do for their own messed up self esteem. This type of behavior is not exactly righteous free speach.

im sorry you don’t like AMS2, thats a shame. Perhaps one day you will. But I can’t agree with your support of harassment.

What asetto corsa in 2021? AI in AMS2 compared to AC is simply the best in the galaxy.
Its quite fun how fast it changed. I took a break for about 2 years and back then AC was the only thing talked about, well that and thrasing pc2(great sim too imo)
Now no one talks about AC lol.
Anyways AMS2 is better in pretty much all aspects. Ai is greatly improved like you said, they really race you

I dont think anyone wants to censor constructive criticism. It is the people that just keep repeating the same thing, a lot of the time it is just an opinion, and the others that like their comments, that do my head in. It is the same little toxic group.

Why? Why keep coming back, time and time again to **** on a title if you dont like it? Could it be they are just trolls wanting to provoke a response? If so, good, get rid of them, censorship be damned.

If someone is enjoying something, what sort of person tries to lessen that experience, by challenging their opinion?

Im not a fan of a few sims out there, but I dont go to their forums and heap crap on them. Who has the bloody time?

Can I just say, I've been taking a break from online racing as it was really getting me down. I've been doing a lot of AMS2 racing against the AI, and it is fantastic. Great feel, brilliant with the bass shakers on simhub and just a lot of fun. Fun was really missing from my simracing as I was doing so badly in online races, but this has really helped.

That's why I was banned. For saying he is allowed to say that.
So you want to hijack the next thread now?
You got banned (not even perma) for continuously showing hostile attitude against/towards other people. Your wall of texts are not the reason. Or saying, what is allegedly not allowed to say. <- If this would be a reason, i would've been banned 5 times by now since AMS2 released.

Nobody is censored. Bullying has no room to waste bandwidth and i hope you learn from it!

Due to the way work is at the moment, I have been struggling to commit to specific race times and have ended up just grabbing some time to race offline as and when I can. I only tend to race the 911 RSR, but I have had a similar experience to you and found racing the AI to be really good fun. I suspect it might depend on the track/car combo, but the ones I tend to race on they block and don't have the weird slow-down that I have seen in the past. I can even run with shadows on in VR, so I'm currently a happy-camper considering my circumstances.

Poor steel reserve falls for it all the time - look at the OP's avatar mate.

This is what gets my goat - not you guys but I just drove the formula reiza 2020 in AMS2 - it drives like a UFO!

I feel like a superhuman driving the F10 gen 2, as well. I am literally setting a lap record now I have driven in AC more this year.

So come on, did you see the OP's picture for crying out loud haha. This:

At Spa, I could literally zig-zag down the road all the way at 200-250 clicks on a bend. Porsche rsr was ok but too slippery. With the f1 reiza at the bend before the straight I could simply not lose grip and there seemed like there was no inertia behind the car, too. I literally did a 270 degree turn full-brake (this is at the chicane), a heck of an arc, guys a veritable semi-circle and I did not lose traction.

- I will say that despite having to jarr and push the car into turns, like with most, and the diffs are still off a little (but all that is a limit of the engine, along with grip and slip, etc) I like the immersion anyway, eg sitting in pits at spa and being able to look left to see the field leaving the pits, very cool... the v8 gen 3 F1 car is good to drive at spa, better than the reiza f1. but its not as complex as other games/vehicles, but its good to drive as in a bit raw and growly, bit animalistic but again limited by the engine, I think reiza have tried to find the middle ground to get the engine and values to play nice but its proven troublesome.

-^ but on that: theres only one way to drive the car and that is flat out, the sim is too simplistic to do anything other than just power and accelerate in the turns etc, there is literally no agility just excess grip. But may other things remain wrong from acceleration and burnouts. Sound is good enough though.

honestly I DO see why people keep playing it a lot whereas I play it maybe 1 or 2 times a month.

- so with any business and repeat custom, its good to identify an area where you know brand loyalty will be, and I think reiza knew before long it would be in VR. So making a lot flat like acceleration, horizon, and they went for it, I suspect. With such a low player count I do not think their next dlc if there is one will garner much - so why would they think any different, except to go into maintenance mode and also to retain customers they do have.

(thats only the beginning. technically a guy could turn up and be positive and cult-like, mantra's chants, iconography, edifices of the mind, and people would copy him)

That is not necessary you say the game is better, the evidence shows it is not technically. I cut people a brake though.

Some of my fave cars are Kunos ones, in AC, no doubt, f1 2000s Ferrari's, 458 and 488 (even the ACC one in AC and I am partial to the ACC one) Ferrari's, etc. I like most brands but this would get long. VRC which does williams f1 from 97-2010 and RSS which do the formula hybrids late 2010's-2022 and also sedans like ferrucia and lanzo, shadow and vortex etc. The f1 mods they are very good - or the dallara f3 in AC is good. The kunos cars are great too yes some more than others but guess what.

None do that. None zig zag down spa.

Guess what - late last year and early this - er, no car in AMS2 zig zagged down the spa turns like that. Yes a car can, technically much slower but not at speed and under full acceleration several times then not fly off.

In the interest of TLDR I placed a line at the point where if you truly do not want to know my reasons, skip to. I will show the tracks that show it and cars for me. But suffice to say the calibra DTM in Assetto Corsa actually was my turning point, that RSS cars, and Monza from Kunos' own stable and maybe the 458 ferrarai. And some Gran Turismo and forza tracks. I did play GT in 97, its true. AC has the best physics, the best tracks, the best cars, and I actually do want AMS2 to get better. Its not bad...

1 to say I want to hyjack is not true but some waste time trying to kick their heels instead of talking about the issues

2 To say no one talks about AC is a little ill conceived, to clear it up, its the most played and its driving the most improved. 7000 play it concurrently. Theres no AMS2 talk really by comparison. Just because they don't start lots of threads is another matter entirely, I think you will find more activity there than here.

2a - theres so many cars and tracks and updates being released all the time - I only spoke about that in reference and bring it up to set facts straight

2b No one is setting me straight, instead you just derail the topic.

2c we have so much to get through because people want to put obstacles in the path, not address things. That only makes the notion of ams being better and better further from the truth, or convinced of it.

2c Raceroom is the most improved title however, now with 1000 daily users. AMS2 has fallen, so if its better then that's a travesty - or is it?

2d there are about 12k people signed up in simracing.gp for online and raceu (100) for AC, they do that or be on discord etc, they do not debate or wonder as to quality.

3 I think you will find I do want the game to get better. It did in fact get better from june 2020 to january 21 but no better since if we are splitting hairs.

I did find something in online play that could denote my renwed enthusiasm for the title but it's not from the driving model. People here take the words and can't accept them so I must explain them (I do not personally want any one to be unhappy). Just that he Gran Tourismo tracks in assetto corsa are far better than anything this title has done unfortunately in light of the above.

Seek them out and tell me if I am wrong. Even measuring against fun. It helps if you counter with the facts to shorten any such posts; so if anything I think the title dipped a little in light of that.

Its not an inherent amazing ffb or driving model, but for casual online play its good. See? I can say nice things however its not what I was on about initially.

I get it - its always hard trying to convince an audience - fortunately theres not a lot of ams2 talk about the place(s).

That's a very important consideration being honest. In the meantime all AMS2 really did was alter a few tire grip values, got a few bugs out of the AI and called it a day. It's still in development so much of what people say doesn't add up.

I actually went to the forum the other day. The latest patch has the least amount of comments ever. No I do not have the time to debate people over this title. Remember though I do want it to get better.

But there's no debating my points it seems. If I ever get banned from somewhere then I can say I am being honest so it's not a huge factor in my daily life and nor would I mind as I would have nothing left to add. Each comment is rock solid.

That aside I can say the title is growing on me again from a pure casual point of view; not that it will denote any amount of time spent in it, like most people. It's probably a lot of fun for online racing for example given how easy it is to drive and forgiving. I've had a few online races on it in the past year. That's probably where it will shine should it get any decent amount of users to support it. It's not super accurate but it would provide a solid field and be fun to drive which is an important consideration. Very much like a project cars offshoot.

The developer must be happy, people said it was going to be this super accurate title but all they probably wanted was the project cars 2 offshoot. I am not sure if thats better, well its not, but at least the online races wouldn't be too tricky.

Rather than talk down the title holistically or even talk it up the same way I tried to be realistic. Is that a crime? Do not mistake honesty for vitriol and at least know I do not have it in for individuals or the game, but I call a spade a spade.

Its really saying something when fantasy tracks are better than AMS2 tracks a lot of the time. Meaning about the past there is just no way I could call the title getting better when despite the above, I have 13 tracks in AC labelled either Gran Turismo or Forza (including the Forza/grid? Rio track wow) while also taking a liking to Riverside (check it out but not a make believe track), or Barbagello in Perth, and sonoma raceway, Bathurst laser scanned (but i will say AMS2 bathhurst features its good art whicih AMS2 does have) and Kunos' Monza among others not in AMS2; I even switched over to Kunos Spa (ams2 93 spa is good though)... it does make AMS2 seem less, even if it did technically move into a position to becomes better (perhaps) rather than actually be better. And I use RSS cars to drive on them, the 458 and 488 ferrarai's (kunos) and others like the ferrucio and the lambo one etc from RSS so on and so on and VRC modding, the kunos ones are good too and the shiro, so many.. May be one could go and compare? To me that kind of thing in the past year is truly 'getting better', but I would only support subjective opinions usually; and I figured by no means would my opinion prevent fun from being had. Just not on this issue due to first hand experience could I upheld the false narrative proponents of this title purport to be true (until it becomes true). Sorry!

P.S the final reason its like that is I saw the assetto corsa new career option mod here on race department in the downloads, and I got all the tracks I was missing, all the karts and kart tracks, and all the cars I was missing, and I have been doing that. Its the best of all worlds, and yes if only ams2 was better off but may be one day when as others say its opened up, because its too big a task. That career mode is high quality.

I know it was a long one lads but it has it all. The sim unfortunately it's absolutely nothing like driving a real car is what I'm saying. From the physics which are nice enough to the force feedback it's nothing like a car.

I hammered my car today as well round a bend to pinch myself and nope. Nothing like it, lost the wheels at rear and corrected. Stability control admittedly stepped in a little to help. U guys drive don't you. Come on. There's a place you can learn and from the ground up ...

Finally. The carts in Assetto Corsa from the custom championship in their forum page here with gt4s as well in his text file... Those tracks and race carts with gears, drive amazingly more better than ams2 right now. Sorry! So scintillating and speedy round those tracks. Seat of your pants driving.

When you say oh it's going to get better what it is, is near miss phycology guys. It's exploiting you. Look up game psychology which I know a fair bit about but not everything... Publishers and Devs use these things guys...

some gamers are explorers, socialisers, some FPS killers. MMOs have all types combined and most games utilize all those principles in their systems and design now... Near miss is a fallacy the game is following and the minority bought into it. You think next time etc.

You know if near miss since most games now use it to exploit you. It's built in. However race games when you don't drive first place is near miss too. Some of you are predisposed to thinking about the future. It's just backwards near miss thinking.
