Poor steel reserve falls for it all the time - look at the OP's avatar mate.
This is what gets my goat - not you guys but I just drove the formula reiza 2020 in AMS2 - it drives like a UFO!
I feel like a superhuman driving the F10 gen 2, as well. I am literally setting a lap record now I have driven in AC more this year.
So come on, did you see the OP's picture for crying out loud haha. This:
At Spa, I could literally zig-zag down the road all the way at 200-250 clicks on a bend. Porsche rsr was ok but too slippery. With the f1 reiza at the bend before the straight I could simply not lose grip and there seemed like there was no inertia behind the car, too. I literally did a 270 degree turn full-brake (this is at the chicane), a heck of an arc, guys a veritable semi-circle and I did not lose traction.
- I will say that despite having to jarr and push the car into turns, like with most, and the diffs are still off a little (but all that is a limit of the engine, along with grip and slip, etc) I like the immersion anyway, eg sitting in pits at spa and being able to look left to see the field leaving the pits, very cool... the v8 gen 3 F1 car is good to drive at spa, better than the reiza f1. but its not as complex as other games/vehicles, but its good to drive as in a bit raw and growly, bit animalistic but again limited by the engine, I think reiza have tried to find the middle ground to get the engine and values to play nice but its proven troublesome.
-^ but on that: theres only one way to drive the car and that is flat out, the sim is too simplistic to do anything other than just power and accelerate in the turns etc, there is literally no agility just excess grip. But may other things remain wrong from acceleration and burnouts. Sound is good enough though.
honestly I DO see why people keep playing it a lot whereas I play it maybe 1 or 2 times a month.
- so with any business and repeat custom, its good to identify an area where you know brand loyalty will be, and I think reiza knew before long it would be in VR. So making a lot flat like acceleration, horizon, and they went for it, I suspect. With such a low player count I do not think their next dlc if there is one will garner much - so why would they think any different, except to go into maintenance mode and also to retain customers they do have.
(thats only the beginning. technically a guy could turn up and be positive and cult-like, mantra's chants, iconography, edifices of the mind, and people would copy him)
That is not necessary you say the game is better, the evidence shows it is not technically. I cut people a brake though.
Some of my fave cars are Kunos ones, in AC, no doubt, f1 2000s Ferrari's, 458 and 488 (even the ACC one in AC and I am partial to the ACC one) Ferrari's, etc. I like most brands but this would get long. VRC which does williams f1 from 97-2010 and RSS which do the formula hybrids late 2010's-2022 and also sedans like ferrucia and lanzo, shadow and vortex etc. The f1 mods they are very good - or the dallara f3 in AC is good. The kunos cars are great too yes some more than others but guess what.
None do that. None zig zag down spa.
Guess what - late last year and early this - er, no car in AMS2 zig zagged down the spa turns like that. Yes a car can, technically much slower but not at speed and under full acceleration several times then not fly off.
In the interest of TLDR I placed a line at the point where if you truly do not want to know my reasons, skip to. I will show the tracks that show it and cars for me. But suffice to say the calibra DTM in Assetto Corsa actually was my turning point, that RSS cars, and Monza from Kunos' own stable and maybe the 458 ferrarai. And some Gran Turismo and forza tracks. I did play GT in 97, its true. AC has the best physics, the best tracks, the best cars, and I actually do want AMS2 to get better. Its not bad...
1 to say I want to hyjack is not true but some waste time trying to kick their heels instead of talking about the issues
2 To say no one talks about AC is a little ill conceived, to clear it up, its the most played and its driving the most improved. 7000 play it concurrently. Theres no AMS2 talk really by comparison. Just because they don't start lots of threads is another matter entirely, I think you will find more activity there than here.
2a - theres so many cars and tracks and updates being released all the time - I only spoke about that in reference and bring it up to set facts straight
2b No one is setting me straight, instead you just derail the topic.
2c we have so much to get through because people want to put obstacles in the path, not address things. That only makes the notion of ams being better and better further from the truth, or convinced of it.
2c Raceroom is the most improved title however, now with 1000 daily users. AMS2 has fallen, so if its better then that's a travesty - or is it?
2d there are about 12k people signed up in simracing.gp for online and raceu (100) for AC, they do that or be on discord etc, they do not debate or wonder as to quality.
3 I think you will find I do want the game to get better. It did in fact get better from june 2020 to january 21 but no better since if we are splitting hairs.
I did find something in online play that could denote my renwed enthusiasm for the title but it's not from the driving model. People here take the words and can't accept them so I must explain them (I do not personally want any one to be unhappy). Just that he Gran Tourismo tracks in assetto corsa are far better than anything this title has done unfortunately in light of the above.
Seek them out and tell me if I am wrong. Even measuring against fun. It helps if you counter with the facts to shorten any such posts; so if anything I think the title dipped a little in light of that.
Its not an inherent amazing ffb or driving model, but for casual online play its good. See? I can say nice things however its not what I was on about initially.
I get it - its always hard trying to convince an audience - fortunately theres not a lot of ams2 talk about the place(s).
That's a very important consideration being honest. In the meantime all AMS2 really did was alter a few tire grip values, got a few bugs out of the AI and called it a day. It's still in development so much of what people say doesn't add up.
I actually went to the forum the other day. The latest patch has the least amount of comments ever. No I do not have the time to debate people over this title. Remember though I do want it to get better.
But there's no debating my points it seems. If I ever get banned from somewhere then I can say I am being honest so it's not a huge factor in my daily life and nor would I mind as I would have nothing left to add. Each comment is rock solid.
That aside I can say the title is growing on me again from a pure casual point of view; not that it will denote any amount of time spent in it, like most people. It's probably a lot of fun for online racing for example given how easy it is to drive and forgiving. I've had a few online races on it in the past year. That's probably where it will shine should it get any decent amount of users to support it. It's not super accurate but it would provide a solid field and be fun to drive which is an important consideration. Very much like a project cars offshoot.
The developer must be happy, people said it was going to be this super accurate title but all they probably wanted was the project cars 2 offshoot. I am not sure if thats better, well its not, but at least the online races wouldn't be too tricky.

Rather than talk down the title holistically or even talk it up the same way I tried to be realistic. Is that a crime? Do not mistake honesty for vitriol and at least know I do not have it in for individuals or the game, but I call a spade a spade.
Its really saying something when fantasy tracks are better than AMS2 tracks a lot of the time. Meaning about the past there is just no way I could call the title getting better when despite the above, I have 13 tracks in AC labelled either Gran Turismo or Forza (including the Forza/grid? Rio track wow) while also taking a liking to Riverside (check it out but not a make believe track), or Barbagello in Perth, and sonoma raceway, Bathurst laser scanned (but i will say AMS2 bathhurst features its good art whicih AMS2 does have) and Kunos' Monza among others not in AMS2; I even switched over to Kunos Spa (ams2 93 spa is good though)... it does make AMS2 seem less, even if it did technically move into a position to becomes better (perhaps) rather than actually be better. And I use RSS cars to drive on them, the 458 and 488 ferrarai's (kunos) and others like the ferrucio and the lambo one etc from RSS so on and so on and VRC modding, the kunos ones are good too and the shiro, so many.. May be one could go and compare? To me that kind of thing in the past year is truly 'getting better', but I would only support subjective opinions usually; and I figured by no means would my opinion prevent fun from being had. Just not on this issue due to first hand experience could I upheld the false narrative proponents of this title purport to be true (until it becomes true). Sorry!
P.S the final reason its like that is I saw the assetto corsa new career option mod here on race department in the downloads, and I got all the tracks I was missing, all the karts and kart tracks, and all the cars I was missing, and I have been doing that. Its the best of all worlds, and yes if only ams2 was better off but may be one day when as others say its opened up, because its too big a task. That career mode is high quality.
