Can't figure out drag racing

So I'm brand new to Assetto Corsa and have been doing the career races, but I noticed the drag racing mode and wanted to give it a shot. This may be a stupid question but I can't for the life of me figure out what's going on. I can start the race fine, but in the middle of the race, I get sent back to pit and it says that the A.I. won the race. I'm not starting too early so I don't understand what's going on.

Edit: I was crossing into the other lane, so I got it figured out

Don't feel bad, I've been watching motorsports since the 1980s and I still don't get drag racing either.

Thanks for the reply. I already have the drag factory pack. Were lookig for more drag cars to download.
