Can't Start Race 07

Hi all,

So I've had R07 installed for a couple of years, but haven't touched it in a number of months now. Went to fire it up today and it won't load. I get an error message, "Configuration has stopped working"

I've verified the cache, but I have no idea what to do now. Annoying thing about Steam is I told Steam not to ever update the R07 files

Any help would be much appreciated. On Win 7, if you need that info, with Nvidia GTX 680.

Typical, moments after posting, I tried to run the game directly from the program files steam directory and the video config options appeared. Now it works. No idea what happened :/
