Does McLaren need to overhaul their engineers and mechanics?

I think so because ever since late-1998, McLaren has failed to produce a reliable car that can win races.

In 2005, they had the fastest car, but, a flurry of reliability issues.

This is especially true even now.

If they don't curb this issue, then, the rumours of Hamilton leaving McLaren will become reality.

No, they have no reason to change imo. Besides the Lotus And Ferrari this year everyone else has had issues. Red Bull is a prime example, they have had alternator issues and they lead the constructors standings.

Umm no just no Mercedes has the regular high standard that is at about the same level as the best. It'd be Ferrari > Mercedes > Renault > anything else in terms of engines, the races aren't won just by engines anymore Aero is much more important nowadays that was the plan that limited engine use and development from 2005 onwards. Red Bull is prime the last 2 years because they had the best strategies and aero they had more reliability issues than Mercedes and about the same as Ferrari but them lacked the proper aero and now build a car for Alonso which ended this period which is great for the racing. It's not the mechanics fail but the aero/placement problem mainly why they have rather mixed results. And their Driver Lineups weren't the best either in the last decade. Kovalainen, De La Rosa, Montoya.
