Which car number system in Formula One do you mostly like?

#1: 1950-1973: Numbers allocated by event organisers
#2: 1974-1995: Permanent team numbers
#3: 1996-2013: Team numbers ordered by WCC position from the previous season
#4: 2014-present: Drivers' own numbers

I really prefer the way it is now with drivers choosing their own number. It will follow them through their career. Also, I think champions should also have the opportunity to have their number retired. So, no one else in history would be allowed to have #44 if Lewis or FIA decide it to be so.

In sometime in the future though many choices will be too limited. It is good how it is. Numbers disallowed only to honor major or gone-too-early drivers.

Anyway, #44 might be retired, as Lewis is the sport's best ever promoter

Very short sighted. In a couple decades you run out of two digit numbers.

I actually liked the 'old' way. Car number one was last years top dog, simple and clear.
