FSO Polonez - 88' and 89' - The popular Polish shitbox from the 80's and 90's

FSO Polonez was a very popular Polish car sold throught the 80's and 90's. With barerly enough power to reach highway speeds and technical solutions straight from the 60's it once was a dream for thousands of Polish families. Famously mocked by Jeremy Clarkson, polonez carried the communist poland into the new millenium.

Now for the first time ever I bring you a pack of 11 cars, made faithfully to their original specs. The mods feature an extensive list of features integrated into the CSP...

Azazman updated FSO Polonez - 88' and 89' with a new update entry:

FSO Polonez - 88' and 89' 1.2

This update focuses on a long overdue maps for the car. The car paint should be properly mapped right now allowing the users to create their own liveries and paint schemes.

View attachment 667779

The liveries also recieved AO maps blended into the texture resulting in a less "plastic-y" look to the model. I hope to get a better shader for the carpaint material but it requires some more tweaking to get it just right.

These updates will be rolling out one by one, on a per pack...

Thanks for the updates. Why not make a single package with all the Polonez versions though?
It was the initial plan. Race Department is a little picky with the file size and since the package itself is enormous both in terms of content and in size it simply would not upload as a whole. Splitting it into packages allows me to also update specific versions without the need of reuploading the whole thing. And while i am updating all of them at a similar time, it might come in usefull when its time to release some bigger updates just for 2-3 cars

Świetna robota z tymi Poldkami! Mam rozumieć że Marf_ zgodził się na ich convert do AC? :D

Great work on all the cars! I'm guessing Marf_ has agreed for them to be converted to AC? :D

Azazman updated FSO Polonez - 88' and 89' with a new update entry:

FSO Polonez - 88' and 89' 1.3

The 1.3 update focuses on the much needed improvements to the rims. Gone are the strange shading issues and overall blandness. Now the shader looks more metalic with scratches and some normal map details in some cases. To put it simply more realistic. All versions have recieved modeled brake discs which should heat up, glow and smoke under extreme conditions - but we all know its pretty much impossible with how slow the car is to begin with :p (im still working on brake calipers, bear with...

Azazman updated FSO Polonez - 88' and 89' with a new update entry:

FSO Polonez - 88' and 89' 1.4

Massive update focusing on a lot of issues with the mod. Too much to actually name them all.

To start with the cars recieved "Extended Physics" update. Now it should work properly and depending on the weather conditions the cars will handle in a whole different way. Dont forget to switch your race tires when it gets wet ;)

There was some overhaul to the interior textures. While still far away from full AO maps all around its sure to come one day. For now...

Thank you for your effort.
For the uninitiated redneck across the pond, who is curious about the FSO Polonez but concern about the bloated number of cars in CM, if I were to sample just one version/model, what would you recommend?

(FYI, I am more into street spec cars that is responsive, lively without needing stiff suspension nor high power/torque.) Thanks.

All cars are pretty much the same in terms of handling. Older ones a bit more floaty than your typical Caro while all Atu variants should be approx 20% stiffer on top of that.
Sampling just one i'd say go with the FSO Polonez Caro 1.4 Rover. The quintesential polonez in all regards.
Given the choice of 4 cars i'd say add Borewicz, "Atu Limited" and 88' "Akwarium" to the mix. You will need to get them from multiple packs and install manually though. Or just install the packs and remove the unwanted ones from your list.
I'd also suggest you go with the 1.4 Engines given the choice. It was the K-series engine from Rover that put out respectable (at that time) 103hp.
My personal favourite is the 1.5 C version however. The most basic one out there. I still need to work on its interior extensively :p

Appreciate your recommendation. So the short answer is FSO Polonez Caro 1.4 Rover, got it.

Now.. do you mind sharing your thoughts on why the 1.5C is your personal favorite? I actually care more about how the car drives and does not really look at the interior, except the gauges. :)

Its more so the origins of this version rather than the driving experience itself. C was made as the most barebones version with cost cutting written all over it. It was missing the additional trims present on all other cars, had just 1 rear view mirror, lacked rpm meter or any comfort features. It also has a different front compared to other ones with rectangular lamps that look completely different from its other variants. And its that barebones look that makes it so cool to me. It was also the same car that Jeremy Clarkson mocked on his rapid fire review, although he had the CE version made for export specifically.
