So, McNamara lead away nicely, while Rautavaara got off to a bad start, he got overtaken into turn 1 by Martins and Harvey, who had a brilliant start and took the early lead. Rautavaara dropped back to 4th. McNamara quickly got back past the Apex and started to pull out a gap. On the next lap, all of a sudden Lintner has an engine failure and slows down a train of cars behind him, leaving McNamara, Harvey, and Rautavaara to storm away in the distance. Lap 3, and Rautavaara spun after trying a stupid move into turn 1, which got nicely covered by Harvey. He was, of course, out of the race. During the entire race, Keranen and Martins were constantly battling for the final podium spot, as catching up to Harvey seemed like a miracle at the time. While the pair were battling, there was a train behind them, also battling constantly for positions. On around lap 7, Laad had an oil leak, slightly creating a train in the esses section, soon pulled over to the side of the race track. Eventually, with team work, Martins and Keranen caught up to Harvey (with what was a 6.5 second gap on lap 3), reducing it down to just 1 second. Martins just got the edge over Keranen, as Herbert and Utzer ran side-by-side to the line, but Herbert just defended his position. Ana was the highest jumper, going up 8 positions and taking advantage of the long run down to turn 1.
