GTR2 P&G Mod - Can't Resume Saved Race

Strange issue with the P&G mod for GTR2. I cannot resume a saved race. I can use this function fine on my Steam install (clean), and the second install with the anniversary patches. Any ideas?

Below are the last few lines of my trace file of my attempt to load a saved race, and attached the full file:

camera.cpp 4215: Entered CamMan::Restart()
render.cpp 290: Entered Render::Restart()
onscreen.cpp 3187: Entered OnScreen::Restart()
vidman.cpp 1423: Entered VidMan::Restart()
plrfile.cpp 3833: Entered PlayerFile::Restart()
