Insight in the Merc F1 enginge

I absolutely love turbo technology and fuel management.
I can't get enough of that stuff.
It was a great idea to split them.
It seems like such a small thing but the benefits are huge.
With that compressor further away from the turbine, the tendency to 'heat soak' is vastly reduced.
Those T-wheels get darn hot.
In most standard applications it's not uncommon to see bearing cavity temperatures close to 1100 degree.
 
Yeah Yeah I know Mercedes F1 is in Midlands but the home company is in Stuttgart. What I love about this video that it shows that a change In the engine setup has such a huge effect on other aspects as well.
