iRacing.com have confirmed the legendary Circuit de la Sarthe will be available to purchase in the September build of the popular online racing simulator.

In development for a considerable time now, the team over at iRacing are hard at work bringing the finishing touches to an iconic circuit made famous for hosting the world's most prestigious yearly endurance event, the Le Mans 24 Hour.

Due to be recreated in all its glory using laserscanning technology, iRacing aim to recreate the 13.6km track at a level of detail so far unseen in any racing simulation to date. With a September release fast approaching the team over in America have admitted creating the track to be "a more difficult project from a management and art perspective than the Nordschleife" - which just goes to show how much work and attention is being lavished on this famous ribbon of racing tarmac.

The Le Mans 24 Hour race is the world's oldest sports car endurance race and one of the best known motor racing events across the globe. Held annually since 1923, the Le Man 24 Hour has long been known as the ultimate endurance test of man and machine against some of the toughest conditions possible in a closed circuit environment. Many of the motor racing greats have competed over the years at the Circuit de la Sarthe, with such legendary names as Tom Kristensen, Jacky Ickx, Hermann Lang, Phil Hill, Bruce McLaren, Graham Hill and Derek Bell having reached the chequered flag first after 24 gruelling hours of competition.

Due for release as part of the iRacing's September build, soon players will be able to have the opportunity to follow in such legendary wheel tracks themselves.

This might be a reason to start doing iRacing, I just wish they had a proper car lineup to simulate WEC.
The reason to start iRacing is an overwhelming desire for competitive racing all around the clock (if you're willed to stick to classes that manage to fill the grids) and on top of it the wish to play a racing RPG as iRacing basically is a huge career mode.

If you want to race LMPs at LeMans there are other sims for that.

I have to disagree that just because there are other sims who manage to simulate a 24H LM race iRacing should just move on.
rF2 doesn't have a proper modern LM version, even the old one has its bugs (Driver crashes), and the level of detail is nowhere near a laser-scanned track. So the track is a huge step forward towards achieving a more realistic LM24H simulation.
Also, the netcode and multiplayer features present in iRacing are unmatched atm, also it is one of the most stable (client-side) sims available (Hands tied with AC on that point), all of that combined with great graphics and we have the platform for an amazing LM24.

We don't have a sim which combines every good aspect currently in the market, and the lack of content in the sim that checks all the boxes for a good LM24 race is, to say the least, unfortunate.

iRacing has its strong points - a lot of them -, but it doesn't mean there is no room to improve.

I don't have iRacing so this news isn't quite for me but boy oh boy... that interview with Frank Biela...:inlove: it's every simmer's dream. What a stud. :)
You must watch it. If you already didn't.

From a livery designers point of view, how affordable is this game? I hear all sorts of excessive amounts but it is a game where I could build some more reputation for myself.
And could Automobilista become iRacing's little brother ?

10$ per car, 15$ per track.
Subscription is nothing to worry about if you are participating in races in combination with sales.

AMS could become iRacing's little brother if Reiza's online service calculates incident rating and race rating; official servers have interesting enough rotations to reel in lots of drivers; they combine weekly rotations into championships.

I have mixed opinions about iRacing. There is no doubt that the selection of tracks is fantastic.

I suppose you become adjusted to what's available but the selection of cars for some reason doesn't appeal to me as much as some of the other sim titles.

Like mentioned above for Le Mans to appeal to me I would prefer to have LMP1 and LMP2 cars as well. They don't have to be the latest hybrid versions (in the case of LMP1) but something more akin to the WEC or even IMSA field would be great. The GT field can be represented by the GT3 cars so that's ok.

Not having a rant, just my thoughts :)
