Regarding the static helicopter: I've no idea if it's possible, but if it were, I'd at least try a disc, parented to the rotor shaft, same diameter and location as the plane of rotor spin. Onto the disc you could map a motion-blurred animation of spinning rotors, making the disc rotate back and forth about the rotor shaft (or world Y or Z axis, depending on AC's coordinate system?) to represent natural variations in load on rotors due to wind and attitude of helicopter.
This would be in lieu of actually spinning the rotors with motion blur applied to them, such as in 3D Studio's Object Properties and rendering effects..... the blurred rotor spin would be easy in batch processing of, say, 90 frames or so. I presume AC can display animated bitmaps independently...(?)
