Old download links gone?

In my searches, I follow a lot of links here to missing downloads. For example:

linked from this forum post:

It seems the site has a new download system, but none of the old links properly forward to the new pages and old files do not appear in the search.

Were all these old files and entire game sections deleted? Or are archived links hidden away somewhere?

I'm not looking for anything specific at the moment, but now that I've registered, I thought I'd ask.

Yes, new system in place for about one year now.

There was a transition period, a month or two, where people could get the files they needed. After that, they were gone.

EDIT, for clarification, perhaps someone reuploaded the files you need in the new download section.

Nope, the new file database started from scratch. All old files were permanent removed and someone would have to upload them again first.

Yes yes, I said they were gone . I meant that perhaps someone reuploaded the files he needs.

Ok, thanks for explaining. Most of the time I have been able to find alternate links elsewhere. I'm just getting back into racing games and catching up on a lot of old things that others may have lost interest in.

Anyway, I'm glad I found my way here. I am enjoying the site as one of my daily reads.
