permission to post something in download section

Hello everyone...

I would like to ask RACEDEPARTMENT something:

I want to publish an "unofficial update" of a game MOD. (something like a "fix-update-patch" of a mod)
contains ONLY SOME (obviously) files of the mod itself...that I modified (improved).

can i post it? I CAN'T find the original owners of the mod (it's many years old)...but I'll gladly GIVE THEM CREDIT FOR THE MOD.
