Race 07 on steam doesn't want to shut off

Finally got Steam and installed Race 07. Got my wheel and pedals working, and had a few races . Then I went to shut it off using the exit button. Nothing happens at all, the game will not shut off either thru Steam or in Offline mode.
Only way I finally got it to shut off was using the Control,Shift and Escape keys and then shutting it down in Applications.
Anyone know what might be wrong ?

For me this was solved after installing the GTR Evolution expansion. I think that installs some newer versions of runtime libraries, where the old ones caused trouble in new Windows versions.
