rFactor 2 demo wheel problem

I downloaded the demo version earlier in order to give the game a go before I buy it. The problem however is that the game isn't picking up my wheel or pedals at all.

If anybody has any advice I would greatly appreciate it.

You probably tried this but in my case the first time running rf2 it didn't respond to my TX even after selecting a t500 as a starting point, but after restarting rf2 my TX was regnonized and I could finish configuring.

I have the t300 with csr elite pedals, I've gotten it to the point where it's recognising the buttons on the wheel with the pedals but getting it to the point where it picks up the wheel rotating is just not happening

Edit: Thank you for the advice @William Wester. A couple of restarts and some friendly persuasion got it all working in the end.
