rFactor painting help?

Hey guys, going to ask a question and I should really know better.

I've had rFactor for a long time but never actually painted a car, and I decided today that I was going to learn how. I don't have Photoshop so I'm trying to use Gimp 2.8 instead. It's all good, except the colours that I use show up like a metallic colour ingame, and I simply cannot get a solid black colour (it's goes metallic instead).

Anyone have any idea how I can get a solid black colour? I have a feeling it's something to do with Alpha and all of that stuff, but I'm not canny enough to figure that out.

If the alpha channel is white or a light grey colour, the car will look more light, glossy. try darkening the alpha channel.
