Show us your Rig / Cockpit

Hello,

I built my rig 20 years ago which has shocked me really where the time has gone!

Built for Playstation 2 and Gran Turismo, Sony 24" widescreen CRT and Logitech wheel I think?

Current format is Playstation 5 and ACC with Samsung G7 32" with Thrustmaster/Fanatec hybrid.

Waiting to buy the Playstation CSL DD.

Latest addition to my rig: another pair of high-speed Delta fans, just to make the wind simulation stronger and more realistic. This has involved purchasing 2 new fans, 1 new controller by Symprojects, 1 power supply, 2 extra 3D-printed fan shrouds, 1 3D-printed box for the new controller, new stands (this time using aluminium profiles and custom-made pieces of laser-cut aluminium to have to fans pointing to my face) and new rearrangement of cables.

I think this completes my new version of my rig (for now… who knows in the future…). Once I clean it, as well as my room, I will take photos with decent quality. There have been so many changes since the last time: motion platform, front mount for the Mige, different installation of my pedals, the racing harness, the extra fans, etc.
Until then, here you can see some photos of the fans.

Well-executed cooling.

Is your 3D printed fan shroud CAD file available?

Just finished my new rig yesterday evening. Will update this as soon as everything is finished :)

Can't wait to take it for a spin ;)

So most of the things are done now.

Today i'll set it up correctly.

Does anyone have advices on the monitor angle? How did you measure them?(PM please)
I'm using 3x32" 1440p and i'm about 68cm away from the screen.

@Noahbet Not pm'ing because the Q comes up a reasonable amount so could be useful to others.

Generally, for games that support different geometries, like iracing, you want to sit in front of your monitor and change the side ones so that you are looking directly at them, not on an angle. I.e. your line of sight is perpendicular to the plane of the screen.

Measure that angle and feed it in to your sim. That angle could be different for different people based on how far they sit away from the monitors. Some sims dont support that level of detail in the sim and in that case the monitors will only align with a specific angle that it hard coded in to the sim.

I had zero interest in racing until a had a recommendation to watch Drive to Survive. Binged it and got obsessed. Started playing F1 2020 back in June (3 months ago) on a controller (PC) and was having a lot of fun. Then Amazon Prime Day came and I took the plunge and ordered the Thrusmaster TMX Wheel/Pedals for a total of $129. When it came I realized that my desk was too thick for the mounting mechanism, so I had to put together the most ghetto setup just to try it out. At first I couldn't even turn without spinning out (this is with full assists mind you) and I gave up and was about to return it and go back to the controller. Instead I googled it and found some settings online, tried them and got hooked. Convinced my wife to let me get the NLR F-GT a few weeks later, put countless hours in. This money pit of a hobby then got me to splurge on a Fanatec DD2 (wanted something cheaper actually but not even the DD1 was in stock at the time). Then I was doing just as much research on youtube as I was playing, and thanks to Barry I finally pulled the trigger on the latest upgrade to a P1-X and Heuskinvendt Sprint Pedals. I had ordered a triple monitor stand but decided to go with Samsung G9 instead, and I used the pieces from the stand alone mount in a different manner. This is not complete yet, I want to add speakers or something else interested to the top of those profiles sticking up, but it's pretty much 90% there and I am so very happy.

Just got the monitor arm.
This beast of a monitor just barerly holds up on the arm. I had to tighten with a screwdriver on the hardest slip just to have it not tipping the monitor angle.

I have not seen anyone do this but I'm going to try because it's my only choice.

Mount the monitor arm just on the side edge of the table. Remove the drawer and install some legs.

Then have a simlab gt1 evo just next to the table.

I should be able to move the monitor just enough to have it over the rig while still have enough reach to have it centerd on my desk. Its going to be damn tight but I think it should work.

Wish me luck lol.

Have you considered adding some kind of support structure to the rig to take the weight of the monitor when it's in that extreme position? Or, if the arm isn't working out, a horizontal beam between the desk and the rig with a slider/rolling* thing with VESA mount for the monitor?

*They may prefer the load to be on top rather than hanging down or at the side.

I tried something similar with this
ujoLPxZ.jpg

but it turned out far less than ideal as even with my smallish 24" it sacks a lot, so much that I keep held up by a stack off books when swiveled over my desk :poop:. Tho ofc this is DIY, but I underestimated the play every element has, mostly in those hinges, but even the profile arms show visual twist if you look closely

what arm did you get?

So i got this arm.

Not seen it anywhere else than this Swedish shop. It's rated for 15kg and the monitor is around 14?
Been holding up for the night without any issues, I guess my main concern is if the reach is enough. Right now the drawer takes up too much knee space, so thats why im going with legs so I can pretty much sit just next to my rig.
