Simraceway

Well I will stick with Game Stock Car - it was a one off payment for a high quality selection of cars and tracks, with several FREE updates that no one expected. A known cost for clearly detailed content. At currently $20, no contest.
BTW does SRW have any AI?

Yes, SRW has an AI, a really good one actually.
Based on the rFactor AI it seems, but it doesn't hit you as often and it can be quite competitive.

At currently $20, no contest.
SimRaceWay, at currently 0$.

I haven't been able to race for some months now, but I do own a few SRW cars. I have no problem with the idea of car prices relating to the real thing. I wouldn't personally spend that much on a sim car but if some one wants to then why not. They have more than enough cars at just a few cents to keep most people going.

New car was added today, and it's free to drive for the day.

LOGO_Lexus_ISF_2011_FrontThreeQuarter.JPG

To add it to your garage costs $0.61 or 610 credits. I havent had the chance to drive it yet, so no idea how it is!

I have to agree with those that are defending SRW... there are a lot of cheap cars, and unlike iRacing, for example, you can earn them by driving, even if it takes a while.

I also agree with those complaining about the events awarding only to the top 3 or 10 or so... RRRE is doing the same thing, and I don't think it's a good idea - it means that events will only really ever matter to the top 0.1% of drivers, especially if they are hotlap events. IMO more awards, even really tiny ones, would get more people interested....
You can earn credits in iRacing by participating in a minimum number of races during each official race season (4 seasons per year) at D, C, B and A licenses. These are awarded is iRacing dollars which can then used to purchase content.

I remember one of the members there once posting in one of the forums about how much folks had spent on content, showing his purchase history and the majority of cars and tracks he had were all purchased with racing credits, so he had used his own cash to purchase certain cars/tracks that would allow him to compete at D license, then from there he made his way by the rewards from his driving.

Seeing this reminds of mainstream tabloid newspapers, you're glorifying the bit that doesn't really matter and as a result covering the big picture.

Sure there are ultra expensive cars like this, but

1. You dont have to buy it
2. Most of the cars are dirt cheap, or even free and earned through playing via credits for every lap.
3. Tracks are free, no subscription, no shelf price.
4. You can win money from playing the game, to put towards these cars. I've personally won a lot of money and I'm no Michael Schumacher.
5. Every week they have a car at 50-85% price

You could realistically play SimRaceway and not spend a single cent, and still get the full experience. That is the bigger picture. Their Mclaren Mp4/4 costs even more at $38, I own the car and it cost me a whopping $7 out of my own pocket.

They have amde this car very "drifty", it was free forthe day on Friday and you were running at Lime Rock, which os a drifters paradise anyway!, seriously it was hard to get a decetn lap there without sliding the car a lot int eh first section!

Great fun, but the races were really strung out, because obviously some people can do this, some cant!

Haters gonna hate, hopefully some of the readers here who haven't already look past the BS and actually give the sim a shot, because it's a great one if you ask me. I play very little else than SRW nowadays cos of the overall package it delivers.
I've spent $30 on SRW and that bought me these cars;
Alfa Romeo 1750 GT Veloce
Alfa Romeo 8C
Saleen S5S Raptor
Simraceway Custom Hot Rod
Mini John Cooper Works S Coupe
BMW Z4 GT3
BMW M1 Procar
Ariel Atom 500 V8
Saleen S7 TT
Toyota GT86
Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII
Mazda RX-8
Morgan 3 Wheeler 3 Wheeler
Volkswagen Golf R
Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX
Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution III
Mazda RX-7
Volkswagen Jetta TDI US-Cup
Palatov D4
Simraceway Kart
BMW 1 Series M Coupe
Lola Simraceway Formula 3
Renault Megane Trophy
Audi RS4
Dodge Charger R/T
Dodge Viper ACR-X
Renault Formula Renault 3.5
MG MGA Mk II
Simraceway FSAE B11
Renault 5 Turbo
Toyota Supra RZ-S
Ford 1969 Mustang Boss 302
Ford Mustang Boss 302
Mazda MX-5 (Miata)
Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500

I've a couple more that I've bought using ingame credits, so they where essencially free of charge. You get credits for completing laps in events so you can buy cars by just participating, no need to win even.
Don't wanna bash on any other games, but I spent $20 on GSC2012, that feels like a waste of money to me compared to SRW, but it's down to my interest in types of cars I guess.

Your 20 dollars on GSC was never a waste of money even if you dont race the sim , think of it as supporting small independent developers.. :D
i bought it knowing I might not race it as much as my others sims, but id hate to loose a company like this..:)
And now we have some trucks coming soon... ;) which i will buy on release..

I actually joined SimRaceway back in 2009, when it supported rFactor and GTR2 races. It has obviously moved on now and runs its own offering. So, as I like my driving titles, I downloaded the .exe and fired it up last night. Had to say I was pleasantly surprised. OK, I'm only running round in a Mitsubishi Evo, but entered a time trial, got 70 credits, so purchased the Kart, lol.

Looks like you get around 10 free circuits to go at, so mainly the cars are chargeable DLC (or spend time driving and earn credits and then use these to buy cars. 1000 credits = $1).

I've played far worse racers in my time and would say that SimRaceway at this early stage feels like a PC Forza 4. Some ma think that is bad, I think it is OK.

oh the Evo is not the best car in the world:( to give a full picture, and the kart is also a flop in my mind, im used to Kart race pro and it does fall way short of the mark,

Its funny that we all say your first impression is what counts, at times id think that the devs don't see this. Sometimes i think they forget the most important things...
Give people a car to try that will knock there socks off and have them wanting more..

SRW is a great game, ofcourse its still in beta, so there are things to improve, but its getting better every day.
I'm surprised how many persons complain about the prizes of the cars, considering about 80% of the cars is less than $2.
Ofcourse 35 dollar is a lot for a car, but if you look at the prizes SRW offer, I think everyone no matter the skill level has a chance to earn those cars.

As the opening posts states the majority of the cars are well prized, nobody is criticizing that really. Its the excessive amount they dare to ask for a handful of other cars that is not needed and just absurd.

But some people here in the comments tackled that with a typical response: "I don't mind, I don't buy them but please let others buy them so I can race for free".

Tomorrows Test Drive Tuesday car will be the Lexus LFA.

As for the new Lexus they added I've still not driven it, I heard it had some 8th gear issues and a bunch of people couldn't drive it though! I still plan to grab it though, just need to find some time to play.
