Rookie, Felix Rosenqvist put his Chip Ganassi Racing-Honda on the top of the time sheets with a 1'01.8125 minute lap time. The other Swedish Rookie, Marcus Ericsson rounded the top three, only being split by Ryan Hunter-Reay, who was a quarter of a second of Rosenqvist's time. The session ended a minute early, when rookie, Ben Haley's DragonSpeed-Chevrolet expired on its 15th lap.
