terrain.tdf mismatch curiousity

Hi all,

I searched the internet concerning the error " missing terrain.tdf". I understand this error may occur after installing a mod that overwrites the original gamefiles. I also have found the spot for the original gamefiles.
I only download mods from a "trusted" source (racesite). Installing the original terrain.tdf does not solve the problem. But when a guy from our raceteam sends his tdf the problerm is solved. On the other hand: i do not want to use his file.
What happens with this file? Apperently the mod creates certain entries in this file for the track to work. But why does my file not work after installationa while the file from the guy does work?
