VR settings - help!

Hi guys
So i've had the game for a year or 2 now, I had it set up for VR great but just had to do a fresh install of my whole computer. Now I've lost all my settings, I can't get the game to run a solid 90fps in VR.
I have a 1080ti and i7 7700k and even with all the settings on low and lowest other than medium LOD, shaders and player texture, i get dips and low frames alot, maybe a third of the lap, previously I had sure I had higher settings and ran 90fps as a constant.

my settings for 90fps:
i run everything on low or off except

track details - high
all texture settings - high
AA -4X
shaders - high
Visable cars - 12
contact shadows- 12

NORMAL SHADOWS - OFF (very important if you want 90 fps)

Does anyone know what shadow split does?
