F1 2011 What is the little circle?

Greetings to all,
What is the little round circle(red or green) that juts out from the race position menu. It has a number. What does it represent? Thanks

Before you start a race you will be given a race target by your team. Thats the number in the circle. If you are below your target the circle i red, if you are on target or above it is green
