WRC9 WRC 9 The Game

WRC 9 is just around the corner, and one of the new locations set to make an appearance in the game is the New Zealand Rally - with some first preview imagery from the states now out in the public domain.

Set to release on console and PC in September this year, with next gen console release slated for a little while afterwards, the ninth instalment of the WRC game series (can you believe we are on number 9 already?!?) looks to be shaping up rather nicely over at KT Racing - so much so that the studio have decided to release some preview footage from an early build version of the title - and already it looks fantastic.

As per usual, the upcoming game enjoys the official licence of the FIA World Rally Championship, this time taking the opportunity to recreate the 2020 season that is currently on hold, and as such returning favourites such as the Safari Rally in Kenya, Rally Japan and the featured Rally New Zealand.

“Roads in New-Zealand are amongst the most beautiful and the most appreciated in the Championship’s history.” tells Benoît Gomes, Lead Level Designer at KT Racing.

“Famous for its fast chains of turns and a sustained pace rhythm, along with breath-taking landscapes, Rally New-Zealand truly offers a particular experience. A long preparation work allowed us to replicate, as closely as possible, the luxuriant vegetation, the light and unique ocean views, as well as the road’s topography and surfaces, mainly composed of gravel. We’re convinced that players will enjoy taking up this challenge as much as we did in WRC 9.” concludes Benoît Gomes.

WRC 9 will release on Xbox One, PS4, PC this September 3rd.

We must wait till Code releases the first new game which will be amazing for sure. Till then, we will only have a new WRC game update in all aspects with few upgrades.

Also, it really looks like they have decided to not put much money in to it as they have lost the license anyway.

I waited ages to buy 8 and then got it in the epic sale, kind of glad i did buy it in the end. Epic launcher isnt great nor is their business strategy but tbh i dont mind having it running in the background while im playing the game. Might not be the best looking game in the world but it does have fairly descent feel to it once you get going and get your controls dialled in.

I am just stubborn to the point of ridiculousness at times. But I stay away from Epic due to how they conduct business. Don't really care about launcher and such (even though I do prefer having games on Steam if I must have a launcher).

What happened to Codemasters securing the WRC rights...? Is this Bigben's last WRC release?

Codemasters licence doesnt come into effect until 2023 so 2 more wrc games from bigben

What exactly would you want them to put money into? it's a WRC game released yearly and yet people want them to revolutionize the sport and use brand new game engines with ground breaking visuals and physics along with 50 new tracks and 100 new cars that provide the best rally experience in the history of gaming, only to repeat that feat next year.

I just can't drive a car that spends 50% of the time sideways with a fixed forward view. I've owned many versions of this title and not having as least Track IR, let alone VR make is a no buy for me.
