In 2009, funding and design began for road course to be built in north western Kentucky, called Bluegrass Motorsports Park. It was meant to be similar to Mid-Ohio (situated 4hrs away) in terms of facilities, and would serve as a great place for track days and spectator racing series.
Unfortunately, for reasons that local car guys still debate over, the track was mothballed after getting it's first layer of blacktop paved. There was a huge amount of interest in this track, and the fact that it was abandoned broke many hearts, including my own.
I had the unique pleasure of walking the course just after it was paved with one of the main developers, and he showed off all the features and nuances of the layout. It was designed by Derek Daly, and promised to be a very exciting track!
I began to feel duty-bound to produce this track, I have learned track modeling exclusively so I could bring this track to life. Using Race Track Builder and Google API for elevation data, I've created what I believe the finished product may well have become.
Special thanks to @3NOON for the video series on building a track from scratch, couldn't have done this without it.
