Who will win the Miami Grand Prix

The inaugural Formula One Miami Grand Prix takes place this weekend with Ferrari now just 11 points clear of Red Bull in the constructor's championship.

F1 takes on a brand new track this weekend with racing action taking place at the Miami International Autodrome in Miami, Florida. This street circuit is 5.412km long and has 19 corners. Overtakes will be most common near the end of the three DRS zones, particularly the second and third zones which end at turns 11 and 17 respectively.

The field enters Miami after a dominant Red Bull performance at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix two weeks ago. The result of that race was a 1-2 finish for Red Bull after a late mistake by driver's championship leader Charles Leclerc held him to 6th. Critically for the constructor's standings, his teammate Carlos Sainz was last in the race and earned the Ferrari team no points.

Max Verstappen climbed closer to Leclerc in the standings, though the gap between the top two point earners so far this season remains a sizable 27 points.

McLaren's performance after early season difficulties seem to be turning around, at least for one driver. Lando Norris finished third best in Imola, but his teammate Daniel Ricciardo finished third worst.

Another team currently experiencing notably varied results by driver is Mercedes. After many years of dominance the silver arrows have fallen off significantly, though George Russell has been impressively consistent and finds himself third in the driver's standings. His teammate Lewis Hamilton could only manage 13th at Imola, and the team hopes a new front wing will benefit the 7-time champion this weekend.

Each of the ten F1 teams have scored points this year after four races, which speaks to a more balanced field. In the middle of this are Alfa Romeo, Alpine, Alphatauri and Haas, who are separated from best to worst by just 11 points.

The Miami Grand Prix looks to be a hot, celebrity filled weekend. Has Verstappen found an answer for Leclerc? Will Red Bull further close the gap to Ferrari? Let us know on Twitter @RaceDepartment or in the comments below!

Don't know about you guys, but I found this race extremely boring (aside from a few moments). Seems like new race tracks are complex though don't present many overtaking opportunities. The majority of the race was like watching a train line or a parade, not a race. Reminded me of Monaco, actually.
Definitely not the best circuit to try and get US's attention to the sport.

I was talking with my dad about how Ferrari engineers make super bad decisions when they're needed and how they should go for soft tires when the Safety Car went in. But no, they decided to keep LeClerc on Hards. Ferrari keeps outdoing themselves on bad decisions.

I enjoyed the race a lot, tyre management was extremely important, and it was where Leclerc showed his first weakness, while Verstappen showed his brilliance (besides the amazing overtaking right at the start). The midfield was action packed, and it could have been much better if McLaren showed up, that's why Norris kept being skeptical. Good for Sainz to get a Podium, a day to forget for Perez. Overall a very pleasant afternoon.

I enjoyed the race. The circuit didn't turn out to be a parking lot like some people said. Congratulations to Max. I was happy to see the size of the crowd. Hopefully, they can sustain attendance in future years.

Respect to him. Great driver doesn't make a great interviewer though, Baby ;)
Oh, completely agree with you about that. I was merely pointing out who the guy was.

If you have a chance, check out the documentary about him, though. It's really interesting. I'm not a big "social justice warrior" myself, but this is a guy who definitely had a target on his back because of the colour of his skin. To try and race in NASCAR as a black man in the 80's, you needed a huge pair of "cojones"!

He's an interesting character, to say the least.

My four takes:

1- New unfamiliar tracks force drivers to try new lines. More surprised and excitement. I hope tracks are modified each year.

2- Respect to drivers doing their best although the car isn't the best, like Norris usually, usually Alonso and Leclerc, today Albon, this season Magnusson, Hulkenberg as substitute, today or this season Russel, this season Bottas off course, usually Gasly, not sure about Sainz and Riccardo but certainly underperforming this season and finally Verstappen but he is a story of its own in the next comment.
Tldr: Kodus to slower teams performing and to drivers like Bottas this season and like Norris who never disapointed us a single time.

3- Verstappen: either he's a hyper human or he's not from this world, (another explanation is that Leclerc got paid to back off in order to ignite an exciting competition). Not only he's crazy fast, he controls the car superbly and he makes no mistakes like a Swiss watch but also he has the brain capacity to visualize what's going to happen next with his car and the car he's overtaking, I can't explain it, but he overtakes and guarantees the good exit for himself. I used to say he's selfish and care less because he puts the other driver in a situation where the other driver should accept his faith and be overtakes or otherwise both crash. Rethinking that, I think that's what racing is.

4- And by now there is a secret who all teams found out about but you prolly don't know it:
The hard tyres are surprisingly quick and surprisingly good enough for a full race. But teams are forced by rules to change tyres at least once, right?

Who was fault? Gasly or Norris?
Gasly had a problem with steering (but cars today are ipads on wheels so he fixed it later by software clicks) so Gasly took a weird straight line in a turn. So it's Gasly's fault.
Mind you, the laws about side by side swerving and about blocking an overtaking car or pushing it off track aren't so crystal clear and some cases got counted as racing incidents, (same even with brake cheking cases for that matter).

He is a different person for those he likes and loves. He's a great person to have loads of drinks with. Judging the videos I have seen where he got wrecked in a club
OK Im probably wrong then.
But my oppinion is only based on the few "smart" remarks I have seen from him in interviews.
But if you are right then Im only glad I (maybe:roflmao:) are vrong.

CatsAreTheWorstDogs: Peppelinos answer about who gonna pay for the beer with Verstappen is a winner.
I cant stop laughing - and get pictures of the situation on my inner screen.:roflmao:

Of top ten, only Perez pitted twice.
Ended up 4th. !
He would have been 4th with one pit stop. Timing allowed him a free pit to put on fresh tires to try and mount an attack on Sainz, and possibly Leclerc, but the attempt came up short. It was a low risk move to try to move up. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Whoever deleted the comment about promoting social justice when it comes to drivers and track locations should return it.
