A lot has happened in the Formula One world since the last race at Silverstone. But it's time to look ahead at the Hungarian Grand Prix. Here are all the stories to look out for.

With the Hungarian Grand Prix, Formula One in 2023 reaches the halfway point in its season. And with Red Bull still looking as the firm favourites, it is looking more and more likely that Max Verstappen will claim the Constructor's Championship let alone the Driver's title. But before we discuss affairs post-Abu Dhabi, there are still over a dozen races to complete. That list starts at Hungary with Round 11 of the season.

During its more-than thirty years on the calendar, the Hungaroring has often provided some intense moments in Formula One history. Several shock winners, meme-worthy race starts and and titanic battles have all taken place at the circuit. Chances are therefore that this weekend's running at the track will be no different.

For once this year however, it won't be the weather causing the havoc. In fact, the forecast for the next few days indicates bright sunny skies throughout the weekend, unlike seemingly every race since we left the Middle East. Instead, fans will have to hope that the technical nature of this 'street circuit without walls' as many call it will provide action.

Ricciardo returns

That being said, there is one driver on the paddock that could make for a brilliant race all by himself. Following a torrid first ten races, Nyck De Vries has been controversially booted from his seat at Alpha Tauri. In his place at the Red Bull Junior team comes the not-so junior Daniel Ricciardo making his F1 comeback.

The smiling Aussie has managed to convince Helmut Marko that he is worthy of a second chance in the sport and will be hoping to show what he can do this weekend. In fact, with such a sudden switch in drivers, Ricciardo will need a good result here in Hungary if he wants to hit the ground running. Poor results are no longer an option for the Australian who is on his last strike.

Luckily for him though, he joins the team that has been languishing at the back of the field at a track he has past success. In his first year with Red Bull Racing, Daniel claimed his second ever win in an enthralling race at Hungary. With many other memorable runs for the Australian in Budapest, he will be hoping to carry some confidence into his first race with the ex-Toro Rosso outfit since 2013.

Red Bull's upgrades

Whilst Daniel struggles with a back marker Alpha Tauri this weekend, the organisation's main team will be testing a set of upgrades set to push them further ahead of the field. Revealed this morning, the RB19's sidepod opening is now no larger than that of a letter box making for a sleek look and surely even more attractive wind tunnel results.

According to German outlet Auto Motor und Sport, Red Bull is expecting a 0.2 second jump on the rest of the field with its upgrades. If Verstappen wasn't having an easy time of things before this weekend. He certainly will now.

Good news for the Red Bull Racing team as a whole, the upgrades will place added pressure on Sergio Perez. The Mexican has failed to get into Q3 for the past five events and is rapidly losing touch to his teammate Verstappen in the championship. If Checo still struggles to get into the top-ten on the grid this weekend despite major upgrades, paddock rumours may soon become reality. We have now seen that Dr Helmut Marko is not afraid to make mid-season changes to his line-ups. So anything is possible when it comes to the second RBR seat.

How to watch the Hungarian GP

It is clear that the 2023 Hungarian Grand Prix could spell disaster for a number of drivers' careers. So it will be important to keep a watchful eye up and down the grid as said competitors fight for their seats.

With that in mind, here are the times you should be tuning in to F1 TV or your local F1 broadcasting channel for all the sessions.

Free Practice 2: 17:00 - 18:00 CET

Free Practice 3: 12:30 - 13:30 CET
Qualifying: 16:00 - 17:00 CET

My prediction. Hamilton will be so geeked to finally have a chance to win a race again, he will act like Verstappen in the first corner. Verstappen will be so geeked to prove he is still in the fastest car and Merc has not caught up, he will act like Verstappen in the first corner.
Hamilton and Verstappen kill each other.
Mclaren gets 2 podium spots.

And the world will be a better place.
I don't want them to literally kill each other, but it isn't crazy to think that Max and Lewis could come together opening the way for Lando and Oscar. McLaren has clearly found something if they're fast at both Silverstone and Hungary.

Hoping for a clean start and race, should be a good'un. I'm hoping the morning drivers briefing has the RD/CotC/Stewards take Lewis and Max to one side for an extra chat!!

Max the Angstgegner quickly showed who is boss at the start, what a talent 12 victories in a row!

Max's race was uneventful but how he stamped his authority was impressive. Perez was back and forth with Norris on pace and gap, but Verstappen at the same time was around 1.5s on average per lap faster than both. The RBR still has too much of a race pace advantage on Max's hands, it cannot be touched if something doesn't go awry for him.

Did Piastri struggle with physical condition? His pace got worse as the race went on, and in the end he was nowhere, 30s off Lando nearly. The latter should have gotten the Driver of the Day award, not Checo.

Mercedes is a bit better. Ferrari is a bit worse. Aston Martin is a lot worse, and are the biggest losers of the tyre construction changes introduced at Silverstone. McLaren clearly the biggest winners of it, after the last two GPs they look pretty evenly matched with Mercedes.

And props to Ricciardo, even getting some damage at the T1 incident (man, did Zhou cause a big mess of all sorts at the start), he managed to finished ahead of Tsunoda at his first outing. He's delivering right out of the gates.

Checo was DoD for me as well as the voters,
Lando did a fantastic job for his second podium on the trot... and did he really bust Max's Trophy?
Max was again simply imperious.
The Ferrari squad are gonna have to stop pandering to the primadonna and look at who has more points...(and would be even further ahead if they hadn't kept tripping him up, hopefully he'll get into Audi-Romeo squad... if he sticks around long enough)

Great race!

I voted for Russell as Driver of the day. Started in 18th and finished in the points, impressive.

As for the rest, well another walk in the park for Verstappen and Red Bull. Spa is next, hopefully the legendary Spa weather will make the race interesting, for once. If not, well… two more wins for Max (sprint race next weekend.)

Thankfully, there’s the second Indycar race at Iowa this afternoon, at least we’ll see some action there.

Frankly, the way the season is going, the last races after Singapore will be completely meaningless.

It's pretty much like the last seven seasons of Mercedes, so hopefully it won't be another five years for you. Although it is now much closer together, but then you still have to deal with the Verstappen factor.

Mmh i expected lewis and the mclaren to be a bit of a challenge to max this time but sadly no, they weren't; as usual after max a good bunch of drivers and cars competitive and fighting, but max's dominance is frustrating

Looks like Piastri got floor damage after 1st stint, that's why his pace dropped.
Could have been where Checo was a bit robust overtaking him at "suck my b***s" corner, either way he put up a good performance considering the circumstances.

Max is in another world, never seen a driver so dominant.

Russel should have been driver of the day, incredible performance and racecraft. Norris is a very close second he controlled the whole race, no mistakes and that gave him another 2nd place. Checo did well, but to be honest he could have done more, looked like an easy second place for the car he had.

Poor lulu fans falling asleep in the race, "get in there lewis, great start!".

Looks like Newey has created the perfect F1 car (within the ruleset of course). It's good at high speed tracks, twisty tracks, Street circuits. Honestly apart from some quali issues with balance I can't see a flaw in the car. Give that to a top driver like Max who can maximise the cars potential almost every lap.....short of punting/wrecking balls/weather I cannot see RB losing a race.

Hat's off the Newey/RB for doing that, but as a neutral I'd like to see (NOT Mercedes, they've had enough already as well) others get a bit closer and fight for wins.

I'm 63 and can still match my son who is 41 and grandson who is 18 on the simulator. So all you Lewis haters don't right him off yet. He put in best lap of the season to take pole and if they had brought him in a couple of laps sooner could have had a go at Perez and even Lando.
It's clear Perez needs replacing don't think Daniel is the man though he lost his way a long time ago and won't get it back. Put George Russel in there then we will get some idea of how good Max really is. Yuki to Mercedes to take his place.

This comment makes no sense.

Real racing and sims are a lot different, good luck enduring the physical struggles of the real thing at your age. Best lap of the season, what?

What you mean "we will get some idea of how good Max really is"? I'm pretty sure everyone already knows how good Max really is. Until his first championship, he already had around 10 wins in a car that was usually the third best of the grid in an era dominated by the overpowered mercedes. Won the 2021 title while in the second best car, and now with the best car he absolutely destroys the field.

Yuki to merc? Lol.
