Classic Sport Driving Is Giving Me Nostalgia For Something I Never Experienced

Have you ever had that feeling of fondness for something truly classic? That is nostalgia. Basically, it involves seeing something from the past through rose-coloured spectacles. But even for me, who is too young for the age of classic video game arcades, today, I received this nostalgia. All thanks to Classic Sport Driving.

Now if you decide to get this game or its demo, be careful! It's easy to get lost in the beautiful backdrops you can get while randomly generating your racetrack.

As I said, this whole game is giving off a feeling of the classic racing games from the age of arcades. Remember those?

Put in a quarter, grab the joystick and go.

The funny thing is, this game can be controlled with a joystick too if you have one. It is actually a recommended input device, together with your keyboard. Only analogue input devices are recommended to invoke the nostalgic feeling even more.

Now how does it work exactly?

Just bind your keyboard buttons and enter any keyphrase you want and you can go racing on a procedurally generated racetrack. You can even send your friends the keyphrase and race against their times! Every run is timed and your best time will shine up on the leaderboard.

Now what can I say more to convince you?
  • The graphics are beautifully minimalistic
  • The soundtrack is lovely (melodic electric music)
  • You can race an unlimited amount of tracks
  • It's available on Steam
From the short time I played this so far, I love the idea and execution and hope for a full release soon so everyone can enjoy this classic experience.

Have you tried this demo during the Steam Next Fest? What are your thoughts? Let us know in the comments down below!

It gives me vibes to the mythical Lotus III from magnetic fields, the same guys that did the Network Q rac rally and the also ultra mythical Rally championship 2000, so sad that that they are no longer in business. They also used to have really cool music in most of their games
