This week, Raceroom launched its latest DLC pack bringing three new cars to the sim. With an entry-level GT car, a powerful and stylish track weapon and a high-profile prototype, there really is something for everyone.
Fans of the game have now had a day or two to try out the trio of racers. So the big question before the weekend is, which is your favourite?
Whilst the Mazda and McLaren are now retired race cars, the KTM is just now entering the prime of its homologation in the real world. 2023 is a big year for the GT2 category with Maserati joining the fray, adding to the already fierce competition between Porsche, Audi, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Mercedes, Brabham and KTM. Several models from the class already feature in Raceroom making for good-size packs in-game.
The McLaren 570S is, as previously said, a more or less retired car. A handful of examples will still compete this year. But the majority of GT4 cars competing under the British name will be of the new Artura model. It's a shame that the newer car doesn't feature in the pack. However, it is always nice to see an older car preserved in simracing.
Finally, the RT24-P Mazda is well and truly in the past. This car didn't compete in the final few years of the IMSA championship, and now the DPi category is out-dated altogether. LMDh machinery now reigns in the top class of the American sportscar championship, so fans may be upset that one of the new prototypes aren't replacing this racer. A fan favourite back in its day, the Mazda will surely excite many an endurance racing enthusiast. So it's nice to see the model finally get the simracing glory it deserves.
For the simple reason that it is still a competitive car, the KTM is the model I would choose to drive in the sim right now. I can see myself watching one of the many SRO GT2 races this year and fancy a spin on track myself. But then again, with ACC also bringing out a GT2 pack this year, it's with the Mazda DPi that Raceroom sets itself apart from other titles.
