One of the most hotly anticipated Formula One races of the season once again takes place on the streets of the Principality of Monte Carlo, the coveted Monaco Grand Prix.

Just a week after the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix at Imola, the Formula One fraternity makes station at Monte Carlo for the 2024 Monaco Grand Prix. With McLaren appearing to have woken up a beast in Lando Norris, and Max Verstappen's Red Bull team in PR tatters, can the charging bull hold off the papaya missile?

McLaren's Tribute To Aryton Senna

McLaren will run a spectacular one-off, Ayrton Senna-inspired yellow, green and blue full-car livery at the 2024 Monaco Grand Prix. This comes a few weeks after the 30th anniversaries of the Brazilian's and Roland Ratzenberger's deaths at Imola in 1994 - a fitting tribute for Senna, who was a noted Monaco specialist and won there a record six times.

Team Principal Zak Brown had some heartfelt words to say about Mclaren's most successful driver.

“The team is proud to recognise and celebrate the extraordinary life and racing legacy of Ayrton Senna through this McLaren livery,” said Brown.

“Senna remains revered and respected as Formula 1’s greatest icon, and McLaren’s most decorated driver.

“His impact on McLaren is enormous, not only through his racing record but also his presence within the team, and now his legacy, so it’s an honour to race for him at his most successful circuit in his green, yellow and blue colours.

Is Red Bull falling apart?

Twice in the last two race previews, Adrian Newey has been mentioned in transfer talks. Whilst no new news on where the design genius will go has surfaced, his once beloved Red Bull team seems to be buckling under the pressure of the inter-team conflicts and the more obvious threat, McLaren.

Verstappen was beaten on merit in Miami and had a hard-fought battle with Norris again in Imola. All these signs point to this season being anything but a walk in the park for the Dutchman - at least as it stands ahead of the Monaco GP. McLaren sit third in the constructors’ championship behind Red Bull and Ferrari heading into the principality on the weekend.

The headlines have been rather quiet in the buildup to this weekend's Grand Prix, expect to see this piece broaden throughout the weekend.

What can McLaren do to topple the Red Bull dominance? Could Lando take the fight to Verstappen for the third race in a row?

Let us know in the poll, down in the comments or over on X @OverTake_gg who you will be supporting and who you would like to see finish in the top ten and why this weekend!

In what must be a first for US television, the race was shown with no commercials. (Certainly our network executives are now seeking intense therapy and strong drugs.)

No. Russell had car problems in FP1 and FP2 and fixed by FP3, in which Russell had to get up to speed with the new setup. The new wing making the difference is purely conjecture but surely is good for the Ham-cult to have some spin and for Hamilton to have something to blame. Poor guy, he's been such a victim all these years, preventing him from having any success.
I find it very interesting that even though Hamilton is no longer dominating F1 as he used to, some people such as yourself still love to hate the guy. I honestly wonder why.

Oh yeah, is Ocon gonna get the tin tack, it's about time F1 as a whole realised that the guy sees every team mate he's ever had as 'the enemy'

His battle against the money coming from his background story is wearing thin. He's long since been a millionaire and should not continue this mentality as it's clearly not working for him anymore.

I've been a Hamilton fan since his 1st F1 appearance. He was this menace on the track in a good way. Exactly why I'm also a Verstappen fan.
But it got a little boring during his reign. Now I like him as long as I only see him racing and not talking. Once he starts talking his usual shtick, I'm off.

Well deserved win for Charles! But again a boring Monaco race
Even more boring this year as the first lap red flag ultimately robbed us of any possible interesting pit strategies.

I really think that under red flag conditions there should be no tyre changes nor repairs. If a tyre change or repair is required then it should be a pit lane restart for those cars.

I propose an addition to the circuit to allow for another actual working DRS zone. Exiting the tunnel and making the first left turn. They should build a long long long curving bridge above and around the harbor. Imagine all the folks on the big yachts being eyeball to eyeball with the cars as they gradually circle around and rejoining around Tabac. If they start now...they could have it done in a half a decade or so....

Not a bad idea, but the cars have just outgrown Monaco in size & weight. I don't think any bandages will really help.

I've put a few laps into this circuit today and would love that shitty chicane removed when you come down the hill out of the tunnel, it would be so so much better with it removed enabling a good run in to turn 12.

Had a great hour of sleep this afternoon, to find out I missed nothing.
Magnussen should have received those 2 points on his license for this stupid move.
It's not a shame to lift the throttle when you have doubt about how a situation plays out.
Judging his current track record of penalties in such a short timespan.
It seems that guy just goes for every imaginary gap without any respect for others around him.
Perez messed his own race up by getting such a lousy Q results.
Starting beyond the midfield is always messy, especially on Monaco.
But great for Leclerc to finally have a victory in his home town instead of parking at backwards somewhere.

Because he’s a stupid idiot? I still remember when he cost Verstappen a podium finish in Brazil. Maybe Alpine should give his seat to their reserve driver in Canada, just to teach him a lesson.
Yeah, stick Mick Doohan in the car, and see what he's got in a race situation.

Oh Christ - not anti-Hamilton brigade here, too! Shouldn't you lot be in school?
Grow up and be respectful - these are elite sportsmen - what are you? Bitter, by the looks of things. If I had my way, anyone posting insulting and derogatory remarks about international competitors should be banned from whatever forum they use to spit their vile venom.
At least I now know not to bother with this site and real events any more.

Just drop the race already. It doesn’t work. It’s all pageantry and no race. The only bit of semi excitement was when Mercedes made a mistake and pitted Hamilton, which didn’t matter anyway.

Fortunately, people are allowed to say what they think here. It would be a bit weird, right? to be excluded from a forum because someone doesn't like Hamilton. I used to have that with the same Hamilton's fan base, but that was about Max Verstappen (crash, kid)

During my local broadcast this morning on RDS (French sports channel in Canada), one analyst made an excellent suggestion to improve the show at Monaco: get rid of turns 10 and 11 to make the exit of the tunnel a straight line with a DRS zone. Tighten what is now turn 12 into a 90 degree turn, so that cars would have to break hard. That would create a passing opportunity on a track where it is currently impossible to pass.

The first lap mayhem allowed the drivers (at least top positions) not to pit and that was terrible for the show, all was down to overtaking on a track where it's almost impossible. Happy to see charles win at home finally and celebrate with the prince lol but the race was boring. Looking forward to montreal though.
